No company is perfect, and such is the case with Nintendo. Currently, Nintendo is a very successful company, but they have made their fair share of mistakes in the past. Here are Nintendo's five worst mistakes they have made in their history. Can you guess any of them without looking?

5. The Loss of Final Fantasy

The NES and SNES were the only consoles for the first 6 Final Fantasy games. They sold brilliantly and developed a massive fanbase, however this all changed in the 5th generation. Square were unhappy with Nintendo's decision to use cartridges in their next console, they flat-out told Nintendo that if they went ahead with it then Final Fantasy would move to the newer and more favorable PlayStation. Nintendo failed to heed these warnings and missed out on Final Fantasy VII, commonly regarded as one of, if not the, best game of all time.

Alot of this is actually quite true. Of course Nintendo has made up those mistakes and probably hard years with empty pockets to being a juggernaut right now. I know most gamers hate the wii for being a casual system, but I say good for you Nintendo, you deserve it. It wasnt easy being in the shadow of the Playstation for so many years, its nice that you finally got ahead and made up for these past mistakes.

Though Rare making Wii games sounds great right about now.......

Why make fun of the gamecube? That was truly a great system. The memory was great, the graphics were amazing, and everything was fun. I do agree with some things on the list though.

They weren't making fun of the Gamecube. They were just saying how it was a big mistake that Nintendo chose the mini-DVDs over the normalsized-DVDs, because the minis had less disc space. And many developers complained over the limited storage capacity of the mini-DVD, and therefore, Nintendo lost some 3rd-party support with the Gamecube.

Yup pretty much true, although I don't really think Nintendo could really compete against MS with the RARE thing, especially when MS has alot of money and spends it well. Even if Rare fell down when it was with MS, it was probably the best move MS made then. And no matter what Nintendo doesn't have the money then to go to a bidding contest. Shows the same in this day and age with MS and Sony.

Some can say that Microsoft pretty much killed Nintendo during the Gamecube-era because they acquired Rare.

Rare was the BEST developer during the N64-era not named Nintendo. Between their Banjo-Kazooie franchise, Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Blast Corps, etc. Everything they made for the N64 was gold. And Micro$oft buying them pretty much crushed any chance the Gamecube had to compete.

The GameCube wasn't really that good of a system either.

I know that. But some argue it could have been alot better if Nintendo still had Rare developing games for it.

Just imagine. Banjo Threeie could have been a Gamecube game. Perfect Dark 2 was also a possibility. Donkey Kong GCN. Maybe even a sequel to Conker's BFD. Plus all of the new franchises Rare would have thought up for Gamecube.

All of this never happened because of M$.

I don't know why everyone keeps saying this. I loved the Gamecube in every way. I'm not trying to defend it or anything, I'm just curious as to what was not good about it. I thought it had a great collection of games and awesome graphics. Loved the controller too.

I guess the only problem with it was the lack of space, but that only takes away potential games.

Its not MS fault TP, its the fact Nintendo didn't have the means to keep Rare. Its like Sony fanboys complaining that most of their old exclusives lost to multiplatforms cause MS gave some money to them, and GTA4 exclusive DLC. Sorry, MS played a great hand and they won. Whether you like it or not, MS did what any other company would do in their position in needs of games.

I wouldn't say losing Rare was a mistake. Since it has been acquired by Microsoft, Rare hasn't made a single game that comes close to matching the caliber of their SNES and N64 titles. I say it was a good move to get rid of Rare when they did and cut their losses.

Yes, but would that have happened had Rare not been purchased by Microsoft?

The Wii should be on there too, sure its not a big mistake for Nintendo--they're making alot of money.... at the cost of the gamer's expense tho. For those of you who just stick to the wii and not have another console, you're missing out...you have to look through alot of shovelware to get to a good game.

BTW, The Gamecube wouldn't have done better if Rare was still around. Ninetdo still missed alot of third party support....which is a big factor in the GC's defeat.

How could you even consider putting the Wii on this list?

Nintendo was down in last place before the Wii was created. And now, because of the Wii, they're sitting at the top in first place. Mistake? No. Huge success? Definitely.

Well, Its a double ended blade.

They have cornered themselves into the casual market, If they change next gen they would lose a good deal of customers.

Where's the Virtual Boy? That was one of the biggest mistakes any company has ever made.

Nintendo's lack of Third Party support and awful publishing are at the top of my list.

Oh, and shitting on their long-time fans over and over and over.

They all sound pretty darn bad.

I would say 1, 3 and 5 were the worst. Imagine a world without Playstation, a time where Banjo Kazooie and Final Fantasy were still with Nintendo. It sounds like heaven for the fans.

A world without PlayStation is a world with SEGA consoles.

      No thanks.

Banjo kazooie is on the 360, So even with no PS Nintendo would not have it.

He said that 1,3, and 5 were the best if they were all together. He never said that with no PLayStation, Nintendo would still have Rare.

That sounds terrible. I'm sure FFVII would have been great on 27 cartridges.

Well, Nintendo Has Plenty of new Concepts before the so called "war" ends.

    1. Nintendo DSi
    2. Wii HD
    3. WiiMotionPlus
    4. MadWorld!

Shigreu Miyamoto is working much harder to appeal to hardcore gamers.
Look up madworld. and if you think theyre not frequent enough, there wouldnt be much Legend of Zelda, which we like or MArio oriented Games, (which are getting old.)

We'd just have shhoters on the market, really. Thats no fun.

Isn't Madworld going to be a Japan only game?
