Top 5 Videogame Apocalypses

Dark Arcanine | October 01, 2008 | Top List | PC Playstation
What's the most epic top list for video games you could think of? The top 5 apocalypse video games of all time of course!

Scott Sharkey from 1UP has made such a list. Inspiration comes from the all the big events currently gripping the world, a darker place than it's ever been before. What happens when people get extremely frustrated? Eventually all that bottled up energy gets thrust out in one big explosion, apocalypse! We gamers take it out through a simulation on the console, at least we're not harming anyone.

So enjoy the five most apocalyptic games of all time. Do you agree with the list?
  1. The Alien Invasion Apocalypse (Half Life 2)
  2. The Evil-Clown-Becomes-God Apocalypse (Final Fantasy 6)
  3. The Zombie Apocalypse (Left 4 Dead)
  4. The Magical Apocalypse (Crystalis)
  5. The Nuclear Apocalypse (Fallout)

    Missing:

Russian Invasion Apocalypse (Freedom Fighters, among others)
Oppressive Totalitarian Government Apocalypse (Half Life 2, among others)
Supernatural Serial Killers killing through history Apocalypse (Clock Tower 3)

And though I love L4D as much as the next zombie loving gaming nut, something from the RE series could have been mentioned as well.

    Love FFVI though

I've only played Half-Life 2 from the list, and from what I see, I can agree with it.
