Fata1ity is still relevant? I hope he's learned manners and respect for his fellow man... Just saying... arrogance is lame.

well can't really say i hate the list, but i see no Soldier of Fortune and if that's not there then you've missed out on a badass game

Wait, the original, very first SoF? I agree!

Yea that one, the one where you blow peoples legs off and they still attack you

No best FPS list should be without Half-Life 2, and one of the Timesplitters games.

I'm surprised CS 1.6 is so high up the list for him, he tried going pro at that game but completely failed at it. Fatal1ty is such a bad poster boy for professional gamers. He's cocky as hell. I know some people who met him at CPL events and say he was just so full of himself and showed little respect for others when he was off-camera.

Painkiller is only up there because CPL was a terribly run organization and refused to use the more popular games (like UT2K4 and even Q3). That game seriously sucks.

Have I missed something that I have no idea who he is?

I mean, not that I'd care anymore seeing as how Half Life isn't on his list and if Half Life isn't on your list then you suck. But still.

Fatal1ty's wiki page. He's someone that you would have heard about if you followed CPL and stuff back in the day.

No big deal if you don't know him. He's just a bad example of how to be a pro gamer.

Very bad example of how to be a pro gamer, and a bad example of how not to act if you want to treat your fellow human with respect.

Fatal1ty was a big deal years ago, but his day in the sun has passed.

And you are pretty much the epitome of 'selling out' when you trademark your name and make a company that only sells licensing of your name. That's pretty lame

I wrote a news story on Neo once saying describing Fatality as a 'retired gamer' and some PR guys wrote me fairly quickly after publishing it, asking me to retract the 'retired' part.

...Just looking at his list, he obviously doesn't play games anymore. If he did he would've played at least -1- FPS good enough in the last few years to have made the list.

I think RPG games have gone downhill these days, but some of the best FPS's are out now, or coming up (Far Cry 2 FTW!)

RPG's going down hill? Kspiess I am shocked by your words!

You don't care about BioWares spiritual successor to Baldurs Gate II, Dragon Age?

Fable 2 doesn't look like it will make up on the promise that was Fable 1?

Fallout 3???? Come on, Fallout 3?

The Witcher - please please play The Witcher (preferably the enhanced non-us version, unless you track down the patches to remove censorship) - honestly may be one of the best single player RPGs to come out in the past 5 years, thanks to the dialogue trees, multiple endings, broad character progression/skill tree options and a mature setting and tone that just makes the game... quite frankly... epic.

RPGs have not gone entirely down hill, just console RPGs have not progressed in the next gen era (that may change with Fallout 3 and Fable 2... so I will hold off on making such bold claims)

But I will say, for the PC platform, there have consistently been great RPGs. The upcoming Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion (now that I am almost done with mask) sounds awesome and invokes a little Icewind Dale as well (not to mention the adventure pack set in Westgate on the way)...

You know what, you're completely right. Sorry ! I didn't think that statement through.

Like Mass Effect this year was awesome. Witcher was also quite good.

        Forget it! You are correct.

Assuming you wrote the news story within the last year, you'd be right. He's not active in the professional scene anymore. Because he knows he'd get rocked by the younger players.

BoxeR is a perfect poster boy for pro gaming. He is still active and plans to be the first 30 year old pro gamer, while Fatal1ty just gives up because he fears competition. And any pro gamer who makes their own mousepad is just a huge sellout.

*bows down to AznLiquid* and BoxeR gets mad props and helps me not feel old.

Yeah -- this was just a few months ago. It was this posting. http://www.neoseeker.com/news/8454-ocz-releases-fatal1ty-edition-ddr2-ddr3-memory/

As for the age thing, honestly I don't think FPS can be pro's past like... mid-twenties. Starcraft players and other strategy games, sure -- but FPS games, I'm not sure. I never knew Boxer was still playing. That's pretty cool.

As for Fatal1ty's marketing company he started, ya a mouse pad is one thing -- but did you know that you can buy a Fatal1ty power supply? Seems a bit much.

I kind of see parallels with him Wendell and Tony Hawk. Not in regards to their relative skills...but just that they were the first ones to become huge, because at that time the popularity of skating/video games was exploding.

I would say Fatal1ty is retired -- but officially this isn't the case. Officially he is still a pro-gamer. Apparently you can be a pro-gamer even if you don't like, actually compete anymore.

It's the same for SC actually. Most pros in their mid twenties either start slumping terribly or just flat out retire. The average SC pro gamer is around 16 when they are recruited now and peak at 18-20 these days. It's amazing how Boxer just keeps reinventing his game to compete with the younger, faster kids.

Im clearly disappointed, I was hoping for Half-Life to be on the list.

He seems to be into mindless, "killing anything that moves" type of shooters. Halo isn't exactly like that, but it did have a decent competitive scene, while Half-life's death match was never taken seriously.

      His opinion shouldn't matter anyway.

The games on this list are awesome, but i'd change the position all around!
