1Up has come up with seven ways to get the most for your money in this time of economic crisis. Read them all at the source. They are all good ideas in my opinion. I personally like waiting a few months after a game comes out for it to go on sale, that and Ebay.

With the stock market on a roller-coaster ride and a general sense of malaise creeping over the global economy, the idea of dropping $60 on a videogame can feel a little irresponsible. For some, it feels downright impossible. Yet this is the time of year when so many gamers feel the urge to spend big to play the holiday season's most anticipated games before they get cold. For those of you with the game lust of an oil tycoon and the bank account of a gas-station attendant, we present these money-saving strategies for gaming in a recession.

It's a sure fire way to kill gaming as if everyone does this then every game will make little money and the store won't bother buying in stock as no one will buy the game until it is $20.

Some good points in that article. Right now my family is feeling the pinch, so I have definitely been more frugal in my gaming purchases.

Not bad, some common sense, but still.

Oh, the second comment about Flea Markets also works.

I generally buy used, and not online (don't have a credit card, or a debit card that many sites actually use)....

The problem with waiting so long is that all new games will keep coming out. you will be left behind.

My policy of sorts, is to prioritize. Well, again, common sense.

I spend the most, early on, to get the games I really want to get. I usually pre-order them and get them on day one. Less important games, I wait until they're cheaper.

    Don't be an opportunist.

    Someone always pays the price.

I would love to take up on these methods. However, my issue isn't getting the games, but the systems to play them on. Any advice for that?

Same thing applies. You wait a bit, and get them when the price drops.

Heck, isn't the 360 arcade only $200 or something? That is the price of a few new games. Course, you'd want to get th Pro anyway, but still. Shows you the price drops down.

Would love to get a 360, but with my current income, I can't even afford a Wii. That's how broke I am.

Cheapassgamer.com is a site that everyone should have saved in favorites, just look at some recent deals they found, buy any two games get one free and 40% off Wii accessories at Toys R Us.

MusikKon I would check the site regularly if your looking for a 360.
with the right coupon code from Dell you can get the 360 Elite for $300 or a 360 arcade + madden for $180. And if you get an arcade you can buy from Microsoft a 20GB hard drive for $20.
I wish I had found this site sooner.

I actually don't need this at all. When I get a PS3 (Hopefully soon) I'll get Assassin's Creed, Ratchet and Clank and GTA IV. They'll keep me going forever!

Slip Warhawk in there too if you can. For $30 you can't go wrong.

Warhawk is pretty sweet, I didn't figureon liking it.

I've only got the demo myself XD

Demo is actually just fine, unless you REALLY want the game, the Demo should keep you plenty busy, for free XD

10 minutes of Capture the Flag (unless you reach the scoring limit), one good sized map, access to all the weapons I think (save the wrench, perhaps)....Damned good demo, IMO.
