    Okay, booooooooooooooooooooooooo.
    This list seems totally random.
Changed my mind, I'm depressed about Fallout again.

Haha. All I can say is thank god Pokemon is in there. I'm surprised they chose DP though, I'm sure most would argue the first or second generation was better.

Oh goody another article having FF7 number 1, going to attract FF7 haters and claim why FF8 isn't up there or saying it sucks(oh wait, that was the compilation.. )

Also I disagree with FF12 being on that list. It was a very beautiful game and all but still wouldn't be placed on that. I'd rather have either FF10 or 8 personally.

And why isn't Pokemon Red, blue or Yellow on this list? The Pokemon games that really made the Pokemon franchise? Im sorry thats sin in my books.

You like 8? Im surprised. I like you now.

I never hated 8, I really did enjoy that game and probably replayed it just as many times as 7, sadly 9 I didn't reply much.

Its just FF7 was my first RPG and FF game that got me hooked into the genre. So I just hold that up more then others. But FF12 shouldn't really be up there.

Oh, please, 26? Sort of underscores some of the randominity of the artixle.

"Let's toss a list together and make it seem like news! Ooh, let's make it credible by pandering to the FFVII crowd!"

At least they got the ordering somewhat right, lol! A few of those games do deserve to be up there, in fact, a goodly portion do, but theres a few up there that I'm also really sceptical about.

Some of those games aren't really RPG's though, Ocarina of Time being one example.

If it was turn based you'd say different.

        Bale Fire | November 06, 2008
Well where are the RPG elements? Like you said it isn't turned based, there is no leveling or stat system and the main character doesn't have a single spark or personality or a voice.

          Mishtram | November 06, 2008
Apparently, most consider it an RPG because your character can be enhanced with more hearts as time goes on, as well as likely "abilities". I didn't play that particular game, but another Zelda game, as an example, was the ability to perform more complex music as time went on in Windwaker.

Always sort of felt it was more of an "adventure" game, though.

          Health/magic/story/characters/dialogue/items/weapons/upgrades/collectables/sidequests/areas/world map/music.

Long ago, in the 1980s/90s, it was standard for the main character in an RPG not to have a voice. Are the old Dragon Quest games not RPGs?

My point is I dont think a game has to have every single element we know to be distinct to RPGs to be considered one. If, like Mishtram, you think of it as more of an adventure title, that's fine. I think of it as more an RPG and I'd hope people would think that's fine too..

Some of these games are just too diffrent to be compared with eachother and to delcare that one is better than the other.

    Horrible.

Half those game shouldn't be there and the other half have better games in the series (pokemon, fallout, suikoden, persona, Elder Scrolls ect)

Also Zelda isn't an RPG. The people who compiled this should be fired.

I can understand why Final Fantasy VII made it up there, although I probably would disagree with its placing. But whats shocking to me is the placement of Final Fantasy XII up there, when FFX or even my personal favourite, Final Fantasy 8 was not included.

Final Fantasy 8 held a complex and mature story weaved with interesting and likable characters (for the most part). Throw in a challenging final boss, and it was Final Fantasy at its peak. Thats my opinion anyway.

    Fair list otherwise.

I am Final Blade and I approve of this comment.

Seriously though I just touched on that above how FF10 and 8 deserved to be placed on that more then FF12. Not to mention the stable Pokemon games(Red blue and yellow) that made current pokemon games what they are.

Yep FF8 was an awesome game. It's my 2nd favourite FF after 10.

      I've never played 7 as I got into RPG's because of FF8.

Oh good, EarthBound's there. *Puts knife away.*

Wait a minute, what the *bleep*? Diamond and Pearl? Have these guys ever played the greatness that is Gold and Silver?

Kingdom Hearts II? That game was horrible. Why not just go with the first one? Gold and Silver are far superior to Diamond and Pearl.. of course there really isn't that much of a difference but the ability to go to a new (older) continent after finishing the first one you're on makes it better than the others.

Diamond and Pearl...? They're good, but nowhere near on par with the first and second generations.

They're missing alot, like the Phantasy Star series, and FFVI.

    Decent list though.

wait where's the Dragon Quest! and if Zelda is up their what about Metroid!! What about Final Fantasy Tactics, any of the four that came out were great, and were definatly better than FF12.

And prob the reason why they chose Diamond and Pearl over one of the older ones was because of how altough they prob still have the older games most of their Pokemon are currently in Diamond, Pearl, or a japanese Platinum (the new 3rd one that isn't coming out for awhile).

Where did he say otherwise? All he was saying was Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow >> all other Pokemon RPG's including Gold Silver...etc. Which in a way he's right. Without those 3 games, Pokemon wouldn't be. Those games made what pokemon is today. While I may have like gold silver and Crystal, red blue and yellow hold more impact for me.

I'm in the same boat. Yes G/S/C had some nice developments, but it's become sort of fashionable to love it. Give me R/B/Y any day, originals ftw.

Seriously speaking, good to see Fallout 3 is mentioned.

By all means I like fallout 3. But I don't necessarily think it should've scored that high at all. I don't even know if I think it should've made the list at all.

    Pretty random, not good.

Suikoden III? What? I think they've made a mistake.

The second title, by far, was the best in the series. For Runes, characters, unites, headquarters, storyline... everything!

So what if it wasn't in 3D. Neither was Final Fantasy VII.

I wouldn't put FFVII in 1st place though. There are better RPGs out there.

I'm tired of that game getting over-rated all the time. Shesh.

And Final Fantasy 12? Are you kidding me!?

    FF6 = Best one.
