Top 10 Video Game Endings

In this list, the popular gaming blog Old-Wizard.com tells us what they think were the ten best video game endings of all time. There are some surprises here as always, but also some time tested popular endings as well.

What we consider to be the ending of Super Metroid is actually playable. We consider the moment you enter Tourian in Super Metroid to be the official ending of Super Metroid. The Metroid’s are easy to destroy and your packed with loads of energy and weapons at this point (You had to be to defeat Ridely). The whole scene of watching the baby metroid you saved kill the nucleus form of Mother Brain is one of the more emotional moments for the Super Nintendo medium. Escaping Tourian and saving your friends on the way is an incredibly unique addition to an already ingenious game. Of course, if you beat Super Metroid in the good time, you not only get to see Samus with her helmet off, but with her whole suit off making any gamer interested in efficiency when completing the game.

    My personal fav would have 2 be Crisis Core. Even though i knew what the ending was going to be like, it still was so sad and devastating. I have never had so much sypathy and compassion for any character in any video game or any movie for that matter. Even if i had just saw the ending and never knew anything about the story or characters i would still probly tear up just watching it.

      I agree, which is why FF7 is the only one of the FF games(and CC) to even make me tear anything. Although KH1 made me sad at the end. Thats why FF7 is the best, personally.

    As a massive Star Fox fan, I must disagree with choosing the original Star Fox. Star Fox 64 would be better in all respects.

    If this was my list, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2 would've been number one. It made me cry and feel for the characters, something no other game has managed.

        I haven't even heard of Mother 3 before.

      Agreed. Hands down, Star Fox 64 had an amazing *bleep*ing ending.

    I personally thought Ocarina of Time had a really good ending.
    So did Paper Mario.

      Yeah, but it's nothing special.

      In fact, almost every game ending is nothing special.

    Where's the Lufia love? Lufia II's ending blows the others out of the water.
