2008 is almost over and what a year of gaming it has been, with many a high quality title having been released in the past few months.
Here is the entire list of 2008 games that averaged an 85% or higher from reviewers.

Enter our "meta-metareview," a list of every game released this year that's scored above 85% on average from reviewers around the world. You won't be surprised by the games that made the list; you will be surprised that some of your (and our) favorites didn't make it.

The best-reviewed game this year? April's Grand Theft Auto IV (98%), followed by a three-way tie between LittleBigPlanet, BioShock (PS3) and World of Goo (95%) -- all three of which were released in October. Metal Gear Solid 4 and Wrath of the Lich King are the next tier below at 94%.

    hmm now that i notice, this was a really good game filled year, hopefully 09 will be able to top it, what with the Killzone 2 beta being so badass and all. (here goes my prayer for FFvsXIII gameplay footage, or if god be nice enough, a demo for me to play)

    ps. still believe Fallout 3 should of had a better score

      A good year, but as usual, the good titles are all concentrated around the release date 'centres' of April and November. The period between then was pretty dry.

    Obviously Grand Theft Auto IV, that got loads of near-perfect reviews so I saw that one coming.

    It's a shame Little Big Planet isn't selling that brilliantly even though it got good reviews. =(

      LBP is selling well; don't believe the anti-hype-ists; they based their stuff of of 4 days of sales. Four days.

    My favorite game this year was defiantly Mega Man 9. Screw reviewers. There are so many problems with the way video games are reviewed compared to music and movies.
