OXCGN takes a look at 8 pet-peeves in gaming that really, in modern times, should have seen their day. However, they still persist and keep re-appearing in game after game.
If we can innovate games like Mirror's Edge, then why can't we do away with some of the frustrating ideas that persist in gaming. So please slip over to the site and check all 8 out, you probably have more, so please share them.
While video games continue to push boundaries to dazzle and amaze us each year, Im getting sick of some trends that simply wont die. Many of these brilliant new games use the same features that might have seemed innovative back in their day, but are not anymore. While each person has their own gaming pet hates, these are my top 8. May these game faults lose their seeming immortality and die a horrible death, never to be resurrected again.
1. Games that reward you for failing

I line up the perfect jump. Fingers on the controller tense and ready. Run, run, run, and press A. Jump damn it all, I missed and fell! Oh wait, lookie here; theres a hidden treasure! So screwing up was a good thing after all. Yay me. Screw that! This has got to be my biggest gaming hate. Games shouldnt hide secret items, health packs, weapons, treasures, and other goodies in places that you will only find if you fail a jump, mess up an attack or make a mistake. Players who succeed a jump across a large yawning gap should not be worse off than the player who fell to the bottom.

Like, instead of just saying that poor stories are commonly a problem, he could've pointed something out specifically. Like how so many stories in "hit" games are so similar(examples being games like Resistance, Halo, and Gears of War, all with very similar settings a plots).
I'd like some innovation in stories.
Like the MGS series. I'm not going to say that it has the best story ever or even that it has a good story, because that's a matter of opinion, but at least it's something different from a generic action game.
(For the record, I love the MGS storyline
Except the exploding barrels and such. Haha, those are my specialty! It becomes my mission in a game to blow up every single one of those things. Sure I die a lot of times due to those pesky game missions and the enemy coming after me and all that, but hey! Gotta take the good with the bad!
As for the graphics over gameplay bit, that's up for debate. I remember Roz stating that Graphics are a must in this generation, but not enough for that to be the only thing in mind though.
I greatly agree with the graphics over gameplay peeve. Some people get on me for not playing certain games when I say they're too short or not fun enough, and they reply that the graphics are awesome. Who gives a crap? I still play NES, SNES, and Genesis games and love them for their gameplay. And then I see "gamers" say those games sucked because of the graphics
