Editor Pete Haas, from Blend Games, puts together a list of game franchises that have been milked for money and have declined in quality. Some of them include Star Wars and the fan-favorite, X-Com.

As the saying goes, "You're only as good as your last hit" - but that works both ways. You're only as bad as your last flop and it's possible that these five franchises could be turned around. We're not holding our breath, though.

So glad they put X-Com on this list. It is a shame how this legendary sleeper hit's brand turned into a steaming POS.

Yes, the Sonic franchise is in desperate need of a reboot. They should development a new one in the direction that New Super Mario Bros took on the DS, that way it can attain current graphics, but keep it 2-D, which is when Sonic works best.

I could agree with Mother and Castlevania but Metroid? It is doing great right now.

/agree - I felt Metroid has always been solid, even the GBA games... and the first Prime, blew me away. Prime 2 was meh, but Prime 3 for the Wii = teh awesome.
