Vir Lucis over at Gaming Verdict presents a Top 10 countdown of the best zombie apocalypse games to prepare you for the inevitable!

Don't be caught off guard, make sure you've made your way through all of the games listed on this countdown and you should be safe - for a day or two anyway...

Being a big fan of zombie-cinema, I naturally tend to play almost everything related to the genre that I can get my hands on. So here it is, a top ten list comprised solely of games that depict the inevitable forthcoming zombie apocalypse. You all know it's going to happen one day, so may as well get some virtual training in before it's too late!

    I'm starting to get fed up with all these 'top *insert number*' lists. They're really not that interesting, nor do they fulfill any kind of purpose, except maybe to help fuel fights over what game is best etc. Sadly, this trend probably won't die down anytime soon either...

      Sorry you feel that way, I tried to make this one a bit more interesting. Personally, I love lists of all kinds They're a great way to discover things you may not have heard about before...

        Not really, I really enjoy top lists. It's a person-by-person basis and I found this one an interesting read.

    The whole gaming WORLD needs more zombie games. Resident Evil 5's on it's way anyways, because Alone In The Dark certainly won't fill it's spot.

      Well RE5 isn't a zombie game. Just because it's a human swarm snarling at you doesn't automatically make them zombies.

        Very true. But for all intents and purposes, they may as well be. It's like saying that 28 Days/Weeks Later are not zombie movies...technically you can argue that, but we all know it belongs in the genre

          Well...it doesn't belong in the Zombie subgenre...it belongs in the Horror genre. It's only considered a zombie movie because people can't tell the difference, apparently. It's like everytime there's a movie/game that involves human monsters...they're automatically zombies. So it went from "reanimated corpses" to "highly contageous humanoids w/ no intelligence".

    I'm not sure it's considered an "apocalypse" but I'd put a vote in for Zombies Ate My Neighbors for the Genesis and SNES.
