    Still, breaking some of those conventions is always a welcome thing. Prophecies in particular are something which are almost laughable now.

      I don't know, I recently played Heavenly Sword and it had a pretty simple prophecy as a base for the story, and that has to be one of the best games I've played in awhile.

      I think for the most part those plot elements are fine as long as they are done right. If they aren't then it noticeably gets repetitive in games.

        Good point, almost any plot device can be memorable and unexpected if used right, its just when its not and you can tell the developer is just being lazy.

    Sadly humans are simple minded and enjoy being fed the same thing time and time again. It's the same to go to the movies or read a book, you'll find the same stuff. It's when something original comes along it becomes something really good and something people will never forget.

    Yes it can work, doesn't mean it's God's gift.

    Yeah, same plots will end up being used again and again. However, It's how you tell the story that's important.
