Top 5 Most Disappointing Games of 2008

ShortMan | December 22, 2008 | Top List | PC Playstation 2
Every year, the top 5 games of the year are announced. Unfortunately, so are the disappointing ones. Here are the top 5 most disappointing games of the year.

What do you think?
We’re just a few days short from finding out the winners of Unigamesity’s Best Games of 2008 awards, but there’s still a small (and rather unpleasant) step that has to be made now, just to make it easier for everybody to understand that huge budgets and obscene amounts of advertising are not the only things needed for a game to be considered a success. Because, as you will see, we will not talk about unknown, indie or low budget productions - we’re talking about products that we, as gamers, considered “smoking hot prospects” when they were announced. But we were proved wrong.

I'm not surprised to see Facebreaker and Spore up there as they had such a big build up to the release. Then we all realised how completely rubbish they were.

I don't think people expected much out of Golden Axe .

Conan was defintely a disappointment. I was looking forward to it.

Personally, by a margin of mile, the biggest disappointment had to be Hellgate: London.

The game actually had tons of potential, and a lot of good things going for it, but was released about 8 months too early.

Well i am glad that Mercs 2 is up there, that game had such good hype yet i can still remember when i first started playing it thatit looked like last gen graphics and played horribly. Also Spore was a huge let down, it just got boring after a while. And HAZE, oh dear. Oh dear oh dear. That game had EPIC potential yet it was delivered all wrong.

Why is it that all I hear about HAZE, is that it sucks, and yet here I am wanting to play it still? I can't get past it but won't spend money on it.

I have never heard of HAZE to be honest. I have heard of Mercenaries 2 and about how awful it was.

I agree with Spore, but aside from some lame commercials, was Face Breaker really even a disappointment? Did anyone even expect that game to be good? It was almost obvious that it was going to suck ever since the concept "Fight Night rip off with worse controls and cartoon graphics" came to mind...

Good thing I steered clear of most of these games, Spore aside (which was such a shame).
