myreviewpoint.com has posted their list of the top five video game series that should move on over to the latest major console by Nintendo, the Wii. They've been seen on the other two consoles, why not this one?

  1. Grand Theft Auto Series
  2. Metal Gear Series
  3. NHL Series (EA Sports)
  4. Street Fighter Series
  5. Bioshock Series

NHL + Street Fighter are possible. But i'm sure Bioshock, GTA and MGS would have to be watered down so much to even work on it. Oh and replace all the main characters with nintendo ones. Mario Bellic + Solid Luigi =]

Eh, except for MGS4 all those games fit on standard DVDs. The worst that would come from a move to the Wii would be a slight loss of graphics. MGS4 on the other hand would suffer the same problem a 360 port would.

Sorry, but this list is awful, and the idea of putting great franchises on the Gamecube 1.1 with Waggle Control is ridiculous. All 5 of these games would suffer major graphics and gameplay downgrades.

Key quote: "Over the last 2 years there have been some amazing titles released only on the “next-gen” consoles and have ignored the Wii". Hmm I don't know, do your research and look up a developer interview! First of all, Nintendo has strict first party developing standards, second of all, developers won't release "amazing titles" for a system that will completely degrade what's achievable with the 360 and PS3. Articles like this really irk me, and it just goes to show you how ridiculous that a second-rate system with an "innovative" motion control scheme (despite the fact that it has been done before almost 14 years ago) has gotten so popular and praised as to spawn awful articles like this.

My thoughts exactly, if any of these games transferred to the Wii they would just look and run terrible.

He talks as if he's damn positive that Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars is in fact going to be a great success. I myself have serious doubts about this. Sure, I'll borrow my friend's DS to check it out, but I don't think a top view game is going to be that great.
Anyway, on to the subject of the Wii. Wii = Family Console. GTA = Not to be played with family.

I think the most sensible out of all these ideas would be NHL, simply because you would be able to use the Wii-mote to control your hockey stick effectively. And yeah, like StarJet said, how would GTA work on a family console?

Grand theft auto would be hard to transfer. Especially with the budget the companies are working with. We should start complaining about this when the recession is over.

I don't quite understand how Grand Theft Auto would work on the Wii - like people have said, it's a family console.

I'd be interested in them, but I can't see it.

Grand Theft Auto would be interesting. I would like to see Saints Row as well (great game IMHO (have it for PS3)).

This list should have been populated with things that were on the PS3 and/or 360 that would have worked well with motion control, because they won't do it, here's mine:

    1. Halo (Metroid Prime 3 controls!)
    2. Portal
    3. Viva Pinata
    4. (A decent FPS, but not Gears of War... I hate that game...)
    5. (A decent RTS, but one that's been designed for consoles)

This list is neither realistic or logical. Its just some of the biggest franchises on the PS3/Xbox360...

I was hoping for Broken Sword, or other Point and click adventure games. Games which would actually do best on the Wii.

Is the Source engine working on the Nintendo Wii yet? Because that engine could have even more staying power if paired with the best selling console.

    I <3 Source engine.

Bioshock is a little too extreme for a family game...

Scarface The World is Yours and the Godfather The Blackhand edition both came out on Wii (Rated M for Brainless people who didn't know), And Bioshock is hell of a lot better than Scarface in terms of a "family game". Scarface drops F bombs, Bioshock 1950's under the water in Rapture...and you kill little girls if you choose.

As far as the list...Maybe just some spin-offs, hey its been done before. China Wars on the DS is a spin-off, the GBC Metal Gear Solid was a Spin-off.

Sure for the games if they did go on the Wii would suffer downgrade, and with 360s new prices at $200, people have probably already played all those and are hoping for the second one, so why put it on the Wii?

and I hate Street Fighter, and I hate NHL.

Well, the NGC had MGS Twin Snakes, even if it was just an updated port of the PS1 original... The thought of another Nintendo MGS game isn't implausible.

Besides that, I disagree. Except for Street Fighter.

Any MGS game? Maybe. MGS4? Yea that ones pretty implausible.

          Koloth Feb 18, 09
Why not? Because MGS4 was designed for the PS3. Kojima has said it couldn't be done right on the 360. If it can't be done right on the closest competition how is it going to be done at all on the Wii?

I'm sure most of us now know how bad next-gen ports to the Wii are *COUGH*DEAD RISING*COUGH*

I can't even begin to immagine how badly downgraded these games would be on the Wii.

I'd like to see GTA mixed in with the Nintendo lot, since I don't want to buy another console just to play it despite really liking the series.

Well, that is what keeps the industry alive. If every game went to the wii it would just kill off everything else(this is not taking into account the poor quality of the ports). So yeah, you going to have to buy a new console to play certain games.

Just like 360 owners will have to buy a PS3 for MGS or PS3 owners for Mass effect etc
      • 0
        Koloth Feb 18, 09
But not Mass Effect 2... Apparently...

          Yeah, apparently.

Although stuffs a bit hazy atm. Bioware have called 360&PC games multi plat though in the past and that OXBOX guy said that EAs PR was denying mass effect on PS3.

          But who knows.
