In only two months Gears of War 2 has sold over 4 million copies. The first Gears of War sold 2 million in its first two months of being released, which was the fastest selling game in 2006. Gears of War 2 has sold 2.31 million copies in the US.

Speaking exclusively to GameDaily BIZ, Gears of War 2 global product manager Guy Welch announced that the title sold over 4 million copies in its first two months on the market. This is double the pace of the original Gears of War, which sold 2 million during that period.

"The original Gears of War was the fastest-selling next-generation game of 2006, selling more than 2 million units worldwide that Holiday, and now well over 5 million copies sold to date," said Welch. "With Gears of War 2, the game has sold over 4 million units in the first two months, doubling the pace of the original."

Yet I can play with any of them. God damn slow matchmaking.

I'm curious...is matchmaking still a problem? Even with the update some weeks ago?

It is. Now, matches connect faster, but the skill difference amongst players is wildly unbalanced.

        That happens with most games.

The problem is that people who are really skilled at Gears of war one will start out as new and with a low score on Gow2, so the matchmaking system will pair them up with other low people, who may be new to the series as a whole.

Unless you are playing unranked which just pairs anyone with anyone, there's not really a way around that.
