Top Ten Most Badass Game Characters Of All Time

A list of the baddest badass characters in video game history. Some of the characters who made it on the list include Sephiroth, Master Chief from Halo and Link from The Legend of Zelda.

Video game characters, though they might swear and be the master of unlocking locks, are usually not badass, mainly because they’re so stiff and run-of-the-mill. But then, there are exceptions, such as this list below, which is a compilation of characters so badass that they can even make YOU feel badass while playing as them, that’s how cool they are. Sadly, though, I’m pretty sure none of them have wallets that say “bad mother*bleep*er” on them. Oh, well, I never said that they were Samuel L. Jackson badass, now did I?

      I have my own issues. Primarily Kratos, Samus, and Link. No doubt Kratos deserved to be on the list, but not at number 1. Hayabusa, Solid Snake, Dante, heck, even Leon S. Kennedy would have been better than Link..

        Yeah, I would have liked to see Snake and Hayabusa, but not a bad list overall. Glad to see Tommy Vercetti up there.

        Samus isn't a bad choice, imo. I mean, she doesn't really say anything, and blows creatures sky-high without flinching. Damn cool bounty hunter.

          Your like or dislike for Sephi should have nothing to do with how you perceive other people as being "fanboys" or not. Liking Sephi doesn't make someone a fanboy, hell he's *bleep*ing last on the list. I don't have a problem with you not liking him, I have a problem with you generalizing and saying "any list with sephiroth was obviously written by fanboys" because thats simply put, moronic.

    Actually, I'm just happy that they didn't include Mario as number 1. The whole time I was reading, I was secretly hoping he wasn't on the list. When I hit #2, I was excited because I hadn't seen Kratos yet and knew he was somewhere on the list.

    How is solid snake not on that list, I guess taking on a tank with only grenades and taking on huge giant nucleaur robots dont count for much these days, oh well.

    Surprised they didnt have the prince of persian guy or another female in the list.

    I have an issue with Link, while he certainly isn't a pussy (at least most of the time) he is hardly a badass.

    Kratos definitely deserves to be #1 on this list. Come on now. The dude has the ashes of his dead wife and kid covering his body and he goes around kicking the shit out of Titans and Gods with blades that are attached to his body. You don't get much more badass than that.

    Link on the list is rather sad though. Solid Snake or Revolver Ocelot need to be on this list somewhere.

    Link and Sephiroth are major fail. There's nothing bad-ass about either of them. Albert Wesker missing is a complete joke. Picking Sagat out of all the SF characters is a complete joke. Not having Duke Nukem, the guy who basically set the stage for every bad-ass to follow, is a complete joke.

    What a joke of a list. I have my own list that I'd like to write:

      I think Link should have been replaced with the Doom Guy. While Duke Nukem was all badass and whatnot, it was the Doom Guy that set the stage for people like Duke and Marcus.

    Sephi doesn't even deserve to be in the top 100. and there were so many better badass guys that aren't on this list it's just sad.

    FAIL. reminds me of crappy Gamefaqs members' charts .

    I dunno, Sephiroth was pretty badass, he killed that huge snake, and that huge dragon...

    I can understand it would be hard to write this list though.

    Link is in no way badass.

    I think Master chief should be a bit higher though - him being mute makes him, simply, awesome.

      Not at first glance but even we huge Legend of Zelda fans forget just what he really gets up to along the way on his missions. Link is quietly very badass for regaining magic and health by getting laid in his second game. Besides what other hero, as a little kid, gets away with tearing the apart peoples houses (and stealing their savings) to get the resources he needs to save the world (and then some).

      He does all that without showing off, think about it.

    I'd vote for the guy from the original Doom. He didn't have one word of dialogue, but hey, he blew up Hell and shot Satan's exposed brain with a rocket launcher. Can't get more bad ass than that.

    Sephiroth deserves to be there...you have to have fought him to understand why.

    Link is pretty sweet but in no way is he a badass.

    Master Chief is NOT in fact a mute. He just doesn't talk much. He deserves a spot on a badass list, but after a shit ton of other people.

    Kratos is unquestionably number 1 though.

    yeah.. or perhaps you haven't fought anyone except him, Luca Blight for starters? sephi doesn't deserve to be in top anything really, even if you think he's a 'badass'.

    I'd say Sephiroth, Kratos, and Scorpion is deserved.
    Though Sephiroth at 10 is strange.
    The fact that Big Boss/Solid Snake and Wesker isn't on this list screams fail.

    Sephiroth is an evil characters but i dont know about being a badass. I dont even think hes the biggest badass in that game. ( I give it to Tifa, she uses her hands and feet as weapons and her giant knockers if nessisary) If anyone from a final fantasy deserves to be on the list its Auron.
    Cant argue with Kratos or Scorpion but Link i dont see being a badass.

    We can all agree that this person screwed up by forgetting to include Snake here. No wait, I bet it was either Sam or Gabe that bribed the author not to add Snake to the list.

    lol @ Link being on the list. He's not even remotely badass. Not even on Twilight Princess. I was greatly surprised Snake wasn't on there.
