A top 10 list of town themes in RPGs. Counts only themes for towns, not castles and such. Includes games from the Playstation 2, Super Nintendo, Gamecube, and more.

Welcome to another top x y, this week, town themes from RPGs. Hopefully we’ll have some more musically-inclined lists, since these are fun to do. Here’s the ground-rules for this list. One, this is town themes, not castles, not mountains; towns. Second, it’s gotta be an RPG, I blurred the RPG line a bit for this list, but it’s still almost all RPGs. So with that said, here’s the list.

    The tune for Lavender Town has always been my favourite in-game music n__n
    Dammit now I have it stuck in my head and the urge to play it again.

    I actually hated the Lavender Town music. I guess as a kid it had me kind of spooked, I would run into houses just to avoid listening to it.

    Lavender Town is cool, yeah.

    Not really fond of the Home Town one ~_~

    Pollyana is good enough, I guess.

    Not really partial to the DDS track.

    Baten Kaito's track was pretty cool yeah. Maybe a bit too 'busy' for my taste, I dunno, but good.

    Persona 4 is 'no thank you' from me.

    Chrono Trigger track is pretty good, better than several of the others, to me, for sure!

    Ah, Majora's Mask. I liked that game a lot. Pretty good music, yeah.

    Meh, Super Mario RPG was 'meh' to me. Maybe I just don't like the upbeat tone.

    Personal 3 was pretty cool, yeah.

    I'm more partial to the Home/Alternate versions of some of the town is Chrono Cross though (Namely Termina/Telmina and Arny/Alny, whichever is the English spelling of em).

    Wow a top ten list that I dont hate. It would be nice to see a top 10-15 of overall songs/tracks in RPG's

    The Lavender Town theme in Silver/Gold/Crystal was WAY better then the R/B/Y one.

    After the spooky part ended, we would have this nice soft melody, it's my favourite video game theme of all time.
