Nice article. I didn't know that the controversy surrounding Mortal Kombat resulted in the formation of the ERSB.

I did not know that either.

I knew RE5 would be on that list.

I thought everyone knew about Mortal Kombat spawning the whole ratings system. Guess I'm just getting old.

Looks like another top ten list written by someone obviously barely out of their teens. While I agree these games can be considered "controversial," there's no way they're the most controversial over games like Leisure Suit Larry or even Custer's Revenge. But I guess that's what happens when a 19 year old writes the article.

I know what you mean, but those games are on the list because they're much more known than Larry or Custer's Revenge, hence the controversy. If AIG was never found to be shelling out millions of dollars to ex-employees, there wouldn't be any controversy.

Games are not controversial man, it's the people. There's the games that are "controversial" to people who dont play games, for example your nan would be shocked by GTA maybe, not the content itself; a lot of people's nans have seen a lot worse than that in their time, but more the fact that it's something thats being played for enjoyment. And then there are games that are "controversial" to people who do play games, which are generally called shite games, in the profession. Can't please all the people all the time well you can, but it would involve some sort of ice-cream machete

I never knew that stuff went on with Resistance. Very interesting stuff.

In a way, I agree with Hawkeye. These games were controversial but not the most controversial. It'd be more appropriate if the list was "Games that caused the most controversy"

I've known Resident Evil 5 was going to be called racist for months now. Fact is, they're dead, reanimated corpses people, get over it.

It's a shame Mass Effect is remember by Jack Thompson's followers only because it had a sex scene or two in it. Mass Effect was rated M which is the highest rating possible (AO isn't given out enough to be considered) but yet they still go after it even when nudity and whatnot is allowed in R rated films. *shakes head*

GTA has been and always will be a target. The point of the game is to carjack and kill people, 'nuff said.

The only thing we can do is shake our heads, defend games when need be and move on.

The 'Politically Correct' world of today is disgraceful. It needs to sort out it's problems and not blame games for encouraging the world's struggles. However, I can't defend San Andreas' 'Hot Coffee' XD
