UGO: 17 of the Most Useless Video Game Items

Games channel editor Russ Frushtick, and associate editor Chris Plante, take aim at a number of franchises to deliver this list of 17 useless video game items.

Personally, I disagree with the "uselessness" of some of the items of the list, but take a look and sound off with your thoughts. Maybe I do have an unhealthy fascination with defending almost everything in gaming.

There are those moments when the music swells, you walk up to a chest, open it, and can't help but deflate at the sheer crappiness of what's inside. Not every item is created equal and we thought we'd take a look at some of the more worthless baubles throughout video game history.

      About as useless as the Cardboard box, yeah, 'cause it once served a purpose but now it's only there for fans and has such a small part it doesn't really need to be there at all.

      But this is Metal Gear we're talking about. The same thing can be said for a lot of things, in 4 especially.

          Bullshit. The box and cigarettes are essential. These nubs just don't know how to pick up infra-red sensors.

          Can you complete the games without them? Yes, of course you can. So they aren't essential. Doesn't mean they're useless.

    the banana is a brilliant weapon in Mario Kart(cant speak for the new one)
    and dont get me started on the Cigarettes in MGS, they symbolised a side of Snake that just didnt care, not to mention im pretty sure they lowered your stress levels in one of the games.

    They should have had that worthless diploma from Pokemon Red and Blue. Seriously? I catch a 151 of those bastards and the best you can give me is a ****ing message that says congratulations?

    Bannana peels are far from useless in the mario kart games,when you drag it,it can be used as a shield against red shells! Pretty much everyone that plays mario kart knows that.

    If you want a really useless item,look no farther than the fake item block in the mario kart series.

    Haha, yeah, the banana peel rocks tbh. I hated those shapes on Tetris. I mean, why couldn't they all just be the four-squares assembled into a larger square, with the occasional appearance of the four lined up? Would've made it much easier.

    I was kinda hoping for the Top Spin from Mega Man 3. The only thing that's good for is recklessly offing Shadow Man. Hoping you don't die first, since it actually still hurts you when you use in an enemy, and you can only use it while jumping.

    What about the pinning top from Zelda:TP? It's only used in 1 dungeon and to get 1 heart container, not really useful after that

    At least you could dual wield the Klobbs making them twice as good. And they could hold 95 rounds making a total of 190 bullets, what is shit about that?
