What if all the fun we had playing Portal was brought to real life? RawCritics.com offers up their top five real life uses if Portal technology became a reality.

Imagine if teleportation became a reality? Portal has allowed us to realize many of these possibilities in a virtual atmosphere, but in imagining the possibilities, what would we do with the technology if we could mess with stuff in real life? Countless ideas and creative outlets would begin to surface and we would have to take the good along with the bad. Ahead are the top five alternate uses I could imagine the world being a better place with as a result of portals.

Um, not to be mean or anything of course, but uh... was I meant to laugh? Because I didn't.

Try to make articles more relevant. Portal was an old game. Plus, with joke articles, they need more substance. If it's going to be just pictures to illustrate humorous points you either need a lot more then 5 or some writing to go with it.

Precisely. Whilst not being the best article ever, that was still decent.

Since when Portal is an old game? It was only released in October 2007! It's not like it was Doom 3 or Half-Life... We don't have the same notion of an "old game".

Old game, as in irrelevant today. Make something about a game newly released or highly anticipated and it's fine, but a game over 2 years old is irrelevant news-wise. The exact same thing can be said about GTAIV, Halo 3 and the like. They're not old, old, old, but old enough for people not to care as much.

Perhaps you should use another term than "old". It's really confusing.

Meh, toma(y)to, toma(h)to. It's all about context, and since the comment was to a news writer I assumed it would be taken in a news-type context. Doesn't matter anyway.

Well, I don't know if you're an English native speaker or not, but for me, as I'm not one, old is plenty when you're old, you know, aged. I can't really link the term to the news world. That's why I reacted like that.

Which is fair enough, which is why it doesn't matter. Just a simple, harmless misunderstanding

the glory hole was the only good one.

but what about more practical uses for portals, like one going from your home to school or work so you wouldnt have to drive.

There should have been more interesting ways (apart for simplying video games or stealing cakes - which is a classic one with Portal).

I already hate the way they treated babies in this article.
