There are games that define a genre. And they pave the road for future games that will try and follow there footsteps. This is a top list of the most influential games. The ones that changed gaming and helped improve it to what it is now.

Video games have came a long way since their beginnings. Some franchises have been successful, and others have been destroyed. Some have always prospered, and others failed miserably. But what makes a good video game? Is it the games of the past that make the games of the future? In some ways, it is, and gamers have always wondered what games have really shined and influenced the games we play today. Well, it seems those gamers will get their answer today. Hmmm, for some reason I was somewhat expecting Starcraft. I think that really gave RTS gaming quite a kick with just how balanced it was and everything and a lot of games would try to be just as great as Starcraft, even to this day.

I'm surprised Diablo wasn't up there. Or even Mortal Kombat. Screw Street Fighter. In SF you couldn't rip someone's spine out or torch them with a breath of fire or even the Kiss of Death.

This is the one list where no one can say FFVII doesn't belong. The article mentions it set a high bar for RPGs, but it also had a huge budget, something that really wasn't done at that time. It proved that putting money and time into a game resulted in a great product and was returned in praise and sales.

Good list though, as stated above there's some absences. 30 isn't a high number though, I imagine those games would be there in a bit bigger list.

Also really glad to see PaRappa on the list, I loved that game. I still can remember about 80% of the lyrics of that entire game.

Even if they're speaking of Wolfenstein 3D, they should have added or associated Doom.

They could have changed a few of them easily.
