Thatgamingsite.com compiled a top five list of the worst video game launches in history. Too bad they didn't do a best and worst list; probably would have made the article even more interesting.

Everybody loves launch days. Camping day and night outside of your local videogame store, spending lots of money on overpriced launched day systems, being unsure whether or not you’ll manage to get one of the few systems available...ok it’s not that great but hey, they only come round once every few years right?

Launch day is the biggest day for any new system and if successful it can mean a future of great possibilities. Then again, a poor launch can mean bad things in the long run. So this is why we’d decided to use some examples of consoles past to show you how and how not to launch a system.

Take note boys and girls, these examples should not be repeat offences!

Psh, Luigi's Mansion still keeps me entertained after all of these years. By the time I would've beaten all three of those games that came out with the GC, as well as gotten most of the replay-ability out of them, a dozen more GC games would be out.

Haha, still, some of those reasons are a bit true.

    Wow, no Sega Saturn?
And there are many other consoles that I can't remember the names of, that had much worse launches.
Actually bad launches are probably why they flopped and thus the reason why people don't remember them now.

I never knew about Microsoft doing those things to annoy Sony at the PS3s launch. That was actually pretty clever and funny.

Tough to beat the PS3 release. When Kaz said all that stupid shit about Ridge Racer and announcing the PS3 was "five hundred and ninety-nine US dollars", well... as Zach Galifianakis said, I'd never seen a cricket ride a tumbleweed before. Numerous aspects of the PS3's release and announcements regarding it were some of the worst moments in gaming history without a doubt. I really don't know how anyone could shell out 600 bucks after watching it. Glad those days are over.

I never actually got around to trying Luigi's Mansion, but a friend told me it was pretty crap so i guess I didn't really miss much.

i agree with all of those, especially DSi. i did get a DSi, but its weird that Nintendo didnt really have any launch games that took advantage of the camera and stuff.

PS3 probably tops them all. Not only was it insanely expensive, but had the worst launch library I've know. Definitely the worst launch in gaming history.

Luckily, the price is halved, and the console itself stacks up great.

Did you not read the article? GCN started w/ 3 games! PS3 atleast started with an A game like Resistance: Fall of Man. I will admit it was a pretty slow start w/ Sony only able to blame themselves, it was in no way the worst.
