I know everyone loves list that praise games, but here is a short list of 5 games that were dissapointments in 2008. Be sure to leave comments on the article please!

2008 was probably my greatest year for gaming. I had just bought my Playstation 3 before the beginning of the year, and after ploughing through my first next-gen title; Assassin’s Creed, my expectations for the many 2008 titles to come were high. However, as I would find, there would inevitably be a few letdowns along the way. Here is my list of five of the games I though didn’t live up to the hype they were given…

yes it was. unless you had a human partner that knew what they were doing, it was complete and utter shit. i couldnt even finish the game because the AI was so unbelievably bad.

i agree with Army of Two, but i completed Viking and i thought it was pretty decent. while it wasnt the best game ever, i would not lump it in the same category as AoT. AoT simply deserves to be buried and forgotten like all the copies of the ET game on Atari that ended up in landfills.

there are also several folks who would largely disagree about Mirror's Edge. havent played Web of Shadows or Haze though.

Spore should be up there. That got a large amount of hype as the sim to end all sims, where you could have control over the universe.
Total disappointment, I regret buying it.

Mirror's Edge was very dissapointing if you wanted the same old shit.
I thought it was very well done. Frustrating at times, but ultimately rewarding and fun.

mirrors edge started fun - but once the cool-new-idea affect wore off (3rd mission or so) it was pretty boring.

GTAIV was the biggest disappointment of 2008.

I was just gonna say that...as well as shun anyone who would imply MGS4 was in any way disappointing.

MGS4 was in every way dissapointing.
        (I didn't play it.)

haha, thats funny, it's so funny to see people that do that and not play the game, much like people saying that infamous is better than prototype and vice-versa, even though both games aren't out yet.

Hmmm...you must have been playing a very different MGS4 than me.

Nope we can just appreciate a game that has a story so odd and at times really hard to understand. That has such a great story that can even shame RPG's.And we aren't too impatient to watch a movie length amount of cutscenes that imo shame movie scripts

I HATE stealth in games yet MGS is my favourite series of all time.

OMIGOD ITS A GAME WHERE WE ACTUALLY HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE CUTSCENES AND THINK OUT A STRATEGY INSTEAD OF GOING INTO THE FRAY GUNS-A-BLAZING.

I played the hell out of it so I got my moneys worth. But to me, it lived up to my expectations. Its unfortunate that some people couldn't enjoy it as much as 1 or 3.

Yes, because that's clearly why I bought and loved the entire MGS series, bar MGS4. But hey, feel free to make baseless assumptions about why I didn't OMGLUVIT2PIECES. God forbid MGS4 might actually be a slightly above average game that doesn't appeal to everyone.

Viking was a pretty decent game. Don't know about hype, I kinda just picked it up randomly and was pretty happy with the purchase.

You must have been playing Metal Gear Shit 4: Appeals to the gamers with short attention spans lol.

I love MGS 4, I think GG is crazy.GG hates MGS4, she thinks I'm crazy lol.

Don't get me wrong, I love the MGS series and enjoyed MGS4. I just don't think MGS4 was the epic that people claim it is. Neither do I think hours upon hours of irrelevant rambling cutscenes constitute "good storytelling"... and this is coming from someone who is a fan of Japanese RPGs and their ridiculously convoluted plots and long cutscenes.

I enjoyed both Mirror's Edge and Army of Two. My girlfriend and I still go through AoT's campaign. I didn't think Haze was that bad either. Maybe because I wasn't all too hyped up to play it.

Spiderman: Web Of Shadows was far from a disappointment. Perhaps to those who don't like Spiderman, or just want to bash non-shooter games.

I enjoyed Mirror's Edge personally. Maybe not enough to go platinum though.

Army of Two is an amazing game. The single-player campaign isn't as fun, but playing through that game with my friend was one of the most satisfying experiences I've had in gaming. It was a blast from start to finish. I enjoyed myself thorougly. This author is a moron.

I'd definitely say MGS4 was really dissapointing. GOOD game, but there was some crazy expectations for it.
