It must suck living in an RPG town. Because at some point it's likely your peaceful, friendly village is going to be wiped out by an evil world-detroying mass murderer. Here are Gamesradar's Top 7 RPG towns that explode...

There are lots of excellent reasons to want to blow up an RPG town. If you’re a villain, for example, you might level a place because it’s friendly to some resistance movement, or it’s in your way, or the heroes are stopping in briefly on their way to kill you. If you’re a game designer, you might do it to raise the stakes, or to give players some emotional reason to want the villain dead. And if you’re a player, it’s probably because you’re sick of listening to a bunch of cookie-cutter whiners ask for your help the same way over and over.

Whatever the reasons for their destruction, the following RPG towns are more than just truck stops crawling with monomaniacally chatty idiots and overpriced vendors. They’re populated powder kegs, doomed to explode spectacularly whenever some outside force decides they’ve used up their existence. And when they do, they’ll all tug at your heartstrings in unique ways - provided you’re not too distracted by the fireworks.

    ... you have to give them credit for continuously coming up with these lists.

      I would rather take them down from the inside.

      Kvatch was already destroyed before you got there however, it kind of detroys its significance a little.

    The first thing I thought of when I read the article was Cleyra. Glad to see it was on there.

    And the one for FFX should have been Kilika instead. It was more potent that the obliteration of Zanarkand.

      Kilika, being the tiny beach town that it is, was only partially damaged in a five-minute attack. Zanarkand was in a huge freaking war with Bevelle and the entire city was obliterated in a full-scale Machina battle that left the city in ruins and haunted by vengeful spirits for a millenium.

        All I'm saying is we actually saw Kilika destroyed, we only heard what happened to Zanarkand. So on the basis of heresay, then yes, Zanarkand would take the cake no question.

      Not really. I haven't FFX in years and when I saw this article, the first thing that I thought of was Zanarkand. It just sticks out more.

      The stuff in Taris kind of makes sense. I remember spending a full day completely as much as possible on that planet before leaving and having Darth Malak wipe that planet out.

    Would have given them one hell of a thumbs up for putting something other than FF as the top spot...if it wasn't for the fact they poorly captured the most memorable and awesome moment within Fallout 3 with crappy low-res graphic screenshots...I ain't no graphic whore but those screenshots make me die a little on the inside ;-;

    What about Ghotza being covered in Ice by Gongora in Lost Odyssey?

      That was definitely an awesome piece of the game, and really should replace one of those FF numbers.

    Blowing up Megaton is a blast, and I have a save right at the switch so that whenever I want to see a nuclear blast I can just load it right up and BOOM!!! Yep, I'm THAT sadistic! LMAO

    I think Kvatch should've been somewhere on that list,maybe along with the mountain village in Dragon quest IV.

      Kvatch was wiped out before you get there. The list compiles of all the towns and cities that are wiped out before your eyes, either by your own doing (like Megaton) or by someone else (via in-game cinematic)

      Although technically Kvatch was merely destroyed, not "wiped" out
