Ign Lists the top ten Co-Op Games ever made. Games ranging from Platforms such as the NES to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 2...See if your favorite made the list!

Welcome to IGN's weekly countdown of the exceptional, fascinating, and absurd: something we like to call Top 10 Tuesday. Every week we'll feature the top ten games, characters, fashion statements or whatever else we can think of that in some way relates to gaming and its history. And just because it's called Top 10 Tuesday doesn't mean it's always going to be a list of the best -- we like to razz on stuff as much as we like to praise it. From counting down the best consoles ever to revealing the worst-smelling instruction manuals, this is where it's at.

This week we're counting down the top 10 best co-op games. Somehow, the acts of mowing down the bad guys, shredding guitars, and shooting zombies are just that much more fun with a friend. There are a lot of great co-op games that didn't make the cut, but we tried to represent as many different genres as we could. Read on to find out which titles we feel represent the essential cooperative gaming experiences. We suggest you read with a friend...

Double dragon, Contra, Simpsons, GH..zomg <3 games with multiplayer. I don't think developers keep the whole co-op idea in mind any more. It's all about the PVP. Halo was disappointing in that it had no co-op.

Lots of classic titles, but I'm bummed over the lack of Secret of Mana. My bro and I has too much fun with that title.

Gauntlet is a classic co-op game, I played that so much as a kid and bought it on the Live Arcade as soon as I got my 360.

ToeJam and Earl was lots of fun too.

Its very revealing that many of the so called Top Ten Co-Op games are several years old. Co-Op gaming has suffered greatly thanks to an obsession with PVP and MMO's.

very true redemption, now a day people focus way more on PVP than they do with co-op...it is nice to see a lot of games now are including it again, I wonder if it will ever pick up like it did so long ago though

The Simpsons, wow that game brings back memories.

Though Co-Op is not dead, it's less used, yes but not dead. There are still many games that use both Online AND Co-Op and even some use it simultaneously, still good if you ask me.

Contra should be consider as one of the top five games, it goes way back. Even while the new generation games come out, this game never gets dull even when played multiple times.

    I loved the Simpsons...

About the only game I didn't like in the Simpson series was Road Rage for GBA. All the others were great.

What happened to Co-Op? Some of the best games back in the day were only good because they had co-op... And why the hell isn't Gunstar Heros on that list >< At least Toejam and Earl is on there.

I hate sharing my screen space with someone else, and for that reason, never do any co-op unless it's online and thus, I get to keep my entire screen.

So...Where's Gain Ground anyway? It was way better than Contra.
    In my opinion at least.

I remember playing Guantlet back when I was a younger. I used to always play that with another member of my family back when I had it.

Friggin' awesome list. Me and my brother played Double Dragon to hell, had a ton of fun with that one. Also had tons of fun with all of the House of the Dead games in the arcade though some are crazy hard.

Four Swords! Yeah! lol I would have thought Halo 2 would have been higher, but I'm not disagreeing with the list. It's hgihly over-rated.
