IGN UK looks back at the best games thus far of 2009, from Street Fighter IV to Punch-Out!, Infamous to Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
It's good as if you'll remember, these are now the only games coming out in 2009. With the exception of Modern Warfare 2, obviously.
UK, August 13, 2009 - So the games industry may have collectively decided to cancel Christmas this year, with the traditional festive gush slowing to a diminished dribble as the top titles flee in fear of Modern Warfare 2 – but why look so glum? You've had it pretty good so far, as the first eight months of 2009 have produced a coterie of quality games, from the pugilist perfection of Street Fighter IV and Fight Night Round 4 to more diminutive delights such as Noby Noby Boy and Space Invaders Infinity Gene.
Here, in no particular order other than the one in which we scribbled them down, are fifteen of the best so far according to the collective videogaming mind of IGN UK.

Er, and the exception of Uncharted 2, FIFA/PES 2010 and Arkham Asylum.
Whilst excluding games like Prototype, Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Fat Princess, Splosion Man.
Then saying that all the big titles are running in "Fear" of Modern Warfare 2?
Then why are things such as Halo: ODST, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Uncharted 2, Ratchet & Clank, Brutal Legend, Assassins Creed 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, Scribblenauts and Final Fantasy: Dissidia all coming out?
Articles full of idiocy.
And in the 'running in fear', ok, it's hardly running in fear, but BioShock 2, Red Steel 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Bayonetta, M.A.G., Mafia II, Singularity and Red Dead: Redemption are all big names that have been delayed.
I'm not trying to agree with the article, but that's the point they're getting at.
The only funny thing about it was the surely intentional humour behind reporting boys increasing length to girl haha.
