Earthbound didn't make it but at least it it got a mention.
I love it that these lists declare shit like "of all time" when they're so subjective. They should be retitled "My favorite RPGs of all time" because really, that's what it is. Stating "of all time" so boldly is rather, I dunno, demeaning to anyone with a differing opinion; hell, I still remember when the poster just started insulting a commenter for disagreeing with another list.
There are some nice games on there, but they hardly even deviate from a specific era of gaming. Come on now.
Honestly Mass Effect is a shoo-in.
I completely agree though, if it's an all time list it's hardly possible to put older games on there. The only thing that really holds up is the story. Virtually every other aspect of the game has been vastly approved upon by even mediocre RPGs today, and including them is just giving them benefits because of memory and influence.
Really the problem I have with older games is usually of the gameplay variety. The old school graphics have a charm of their own, but I've been spoiled by having deep gameplay, and it's difficult to play turn based rpg's, especially when the game was early even in the turn based days.
Golden Oldie's I suppose
