While some games have such bad voice acting it makes you want to tear your ears off, other games get the voice acting so right it makes listening to the characters one of the best parts of the game. Go to the source for gamerlimit.com's Top 10 Voice Actors In Gaming...

One of the most make-or-break elements for modern video games comes in the voiceover artists. It’s not just some little tacked-on detail that provides fodder for the game’s critics — the skill of the voiceovers in a game has a direct impact on the player’s immersion in the game universe, and thus are directly related to the player’s overall enjoyment of the game.

How many times have you played a game with that one voice that just made your ears bleed? It could be a great game, beautiful graphics, fantastic plot, great battle system, everything could be perfect — but if there’s that one voice that just drives you nuts, odds are that’s what you’re going to most remember from the game.

Take the GameCube beauty Baten Kaitos for example — it has among the greatest graphics ever shown on the GameCube, a twisting plot, cohesive battle world, and I do remember that right after playing the game I really enjoyed it. But right now, a couple years later, the only thing I remember is how painful a couple of the voices were. Voiceovers are a crucial part of any game that features them, and it’s high time that the greatest voiceover artists were recognized. The artists below are each among the most versatile, recognizable or talented voiceover artists that have graced the video game industry.

I also have to issue a disclaimer: there are so many great voiceover artists out there that it’s really impossible to guarantee that these are somehow the ten “best” ones. These are just ten prominent, notable voiceover artists that I feel deserve recognition. Did I miss some? Let me know, maybe there’ll be a Part 2. And if you see a glaring omission, wait a few days — they might be featured in another voiceover-based list in the near future.

Where's the guy who voices Commander Sheppard in Mass Effect? He definitely deserves the top spot.

mass effect is full of great voice acting. that's probably the only game that ever really engaged me with it's story, and the voices certainly help.

Ahaha I was expecting to see David Hayter when I clicked. He's the only voice actor I properly know to be honest.
Expected someone from Final Fantasy 12 to make it on that list too. Some of the voice acting there was excellent.

David Hayter, Michael Bell, and Simon Templeman are among the BEST. I was actually disgusted Simon wasn't on the list. His role as Kain, and as Roman in Uncharted proves he is a superior voice actor. As well as the late Tony Jay. Actually, pretty much anyone who has been in a Legacy of Kain game or MGS game deserves recognition.

But above all, Soul Reaver 2 has the best voice acting I've seen in any game before and after it. It still stands as one of the best lip-synched games too.

Very true. It's awesome that the Legacy of Kain games were mentioned, but how could he not mention Simon Templeman's voice work as Kain

I was kinda hoping to see Tara Strong make the list. I hope her omission was the list's intention on focusing on VAs who are more prominent in gaming voiceovers than other work.

Wasn't surprised to see David Hayter on there though, but he is good.

Yes. She's played out a fair range of roles. I first came across her work in Tales of Symphonia and have since come across her voiceovers a lot more since then.

Armin Shimerman as Andrew Ryan in BioShock was the best voice acting I've ever experienced in my life.

    Just saying.

What about the guy who voices Sonic characters, or Mario Characters?

Jennifer Hale is probably one of my top voice-actors. She was great as Bastila Shan in KOTOR, as well a crapload of other games that I've played like MUA and Mass Effect.
