13. Eternal Sonata
Kicking off our list is Eternal Sonata, a game in which you assume the role of Frederic Chopin. As you might imagine, a game based on such a prolific pianist features a stunning soundtrack. The soundtrack even incorporates some of Chopin’s classic works, such as Polonaise, Op. 53, Étude Op. 10, No. 12, and Étude Op. 10, No. 3. The theme featured is the battle music, which clearly demonstrates the theme of the game.

    Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 10 and Kingdom Hearts 1 will always have the best RPG soundtracks, ever, ever.

    The fact that FFX was left out makes me question this persons sanity (imo anyways).

    EDIT: Oh, and Brutal Legend has the best if it can pass as a RPG

    X had a pretty weak soundtrack, to be honest. I would definitely put Secret of Mana, (and SoM2), Chrono Trigger (Mitsuda is a genius) and Final Fantasies III and VII there as they did, though, so no complaints here.

    Personally, I liked Wild ARMs 2's soundtrack a little more than the first though.

    FFXII, FFX, FFVII, and KH2 were my favorites. FFXII being my favorite overall. And as much as I enjoyed the music in FFVIII and FFIX, there were just too many tracks that didn't really enjoy listening to outside of the game. But hell, I still enjoy listening to "Terra" and "Man With the Machine Gun".

    It's nice to see FFVI get a mention. That whole soundtrack was great and definitely underrated. <3 Dancing Mad.

      I agree. FFVI had an awesome soundtrack. I loved the Chocobo theme, the Atma Weapon song, and the fight and boss battle themes.

      The Lost Odyssey OST ought to have been on the list too simply because of the awesomeness of Dark Saint. Nobuo Uematsu's just a genius.

    a good and rather fair list.

    but Xenogears' ost should be way more close to top, and FF IV and Shadow Hearts ones should be there as well.

    Some good tracks there IMO, but I would have chosen different tracks for the games I know (Kingdom Hearts, FFVII) though I'm satisfied enough with Chrono Cross choice, but again, not the one I would have picked.

    Holy hell! I remember the Wild Arms theme tune, so happy they put it up there, one of my favorite PSX games! I wish they'd re-release it so i could play it again =[

    I would have liked to see them name FFIV and FFV on there, FFIV for it's theme to Battle With the Four Fiends and FFV for Clash on the Big Bridge.

      They have Wild Arms on Playstation Network for 5.99. I bought it recently.. I love that game

          Yup it's awesome.. I got Wild Arms, Suikoden and Final Fantasy Tactics. All 3 for 22 bucks.

      Oh yeah, it had some great tracks. I actually want the OST myself...

      Ditto for Fallout III's soundtrack, that was pretty solid too.

    I remember a few songs from FFX, even though I haven't played it in years. Only game on that list I know anything remotely about the music.

    How the shit is Oblivion not on there? Jeremy Soule should have half the list to himself.

    Suikoden is a great pick though.
