A list of the best villains to ever grace the Final Fantasy series. Might the #1 spot go to a certain silver-haired guy with a really long sword? Let us know who we missed.

8. Garland (FF9)
Garland is directly responsible for the events in the game. He was created by the Terrans and given the task to find a new planet for them to live on. When he couldn’t conquer Gaia, he created Kuja to be his Angel of Death, killing Gaians to make room for the Terrans’ souls.

FFX a mess of a game? Well that makes anything that guy says meaningless.

he is right, FFX is possibly one of the worst Final Fantasy's alongside XII.

I was with you until you said FFXII was horrible.

FFXII is one of the best main FFs in a good long while along with FFIX.

Finally! Someone else who thinks FFXII was more than what everyone else makes it to be.

And FFIX was a pleasent break from the futuristic-style FF of late.

FFXII was a pile of trash in almost every way. One of the most boring games I've played in a very long time.

IX sucked too. Other than the horribly annoying characters, the gameplay itself was frustrating a majority of the time.

Umm guys I think he's referring to the fact that Yu Yevon is the reason Spira is the cycle of death its portrayed as in FFX, not that the game itself is bad. And yes, I think FFX is awesome too

Whatever you say.FFX is the best imo.I've played 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 10-2, 12 and 10 is easily my favourite followed by 8.Didn't play 7 till it came out on PSN and I played it for about 20 minutes before I never touched it again.I should play it more though.

7 is supposed to the best, isn't it? I'm currently playing it and it's pretty good. I think I'm about 40% through with it. The beginning is pretty boring, but it gets better. Can't say I have anything to compare it to though, since this is the only FF game I've ever played lol.

it's all opinion. But any true FF fan will tell you 7 is not the best.

imo, 4 was the best. then 9

You're right. I really don't get the fuss over 7. Sure its a helluva game. Definitely one of the candidates for best game ever, but certainly not the best FF game.

As much as I liked the Materia system, I was always partial to the job system. IDK, it just appealed to me over Materia.

And having certain characters with certain powers that no one else can do (Summonings in FFIX & X mostly) didn't really appeal to me that much, but I get why they did it.

But hey, everyone's entitled to their opinion. And IMO, it should go XII,X,VIII,IX,VII,V,VI,IV. Can't say anything about I-III since I haven't finished them.

lol "any true fan" would not put 9 ahead of 6, 7, 8, or even 10.

The best games in the numbered series are 6,7,8, and 4, with 10 and 9 being fairly enigmatic because they had some pretty good positives over the others but some really ridiculous issues that made them frustrating for a lot of people.

Wow, out of ALL those you'd put 10 at the best? What the hell kind of crack are you smoking?

6 has easily the best storyline and gameplay. 4 is fantastic in terms of story as well, especially the plot twist. 7 has an insanely long and twisting story which has it's ups and downs and has possibly one of the most upsetting moments in video game history. Yet you choose 10 which has by far the worst storyline ever, the gameplay is horrendous and i wish to kill Tidus over and over again for being the most annoying prick ever in a Final Fantasy game.

Yes so liking a game the best that you don't means that everyone else is whacked out Doesn't surprise me with a name like FinalFantasyFanatic. You seem to think that your opinion is better than everyone elses because you're a FFFanatic.Your username should be FinalFantasyFanboy because you talk bullshit like a fanboy.

I found Squall much more annoying than Tidus with his pathetic "I don't need anyone else", "my life sucks" blah blah blah.

I also found the story and gameplay awsome.

Uhm... addressing the comments here, but I think people are entitled to like / dislike any Final Fantasy game they want. There's more than twelve of those *bleep*ing games including the spin-offs -- no one is going to agree on which is the best / worst.

Tactics is my favorite, but some people would say that's not a true FF because Yasumi Matsuno designed it.

Agreed, people can like VII, XII hell even I and there's no reason why not. Believe it or not everyone's opinion is not law, which Final Fantasy game is the best is entirely subjective.

Well FFF is the only one that is calling everyone else crazy for liking 10 the best.Everyone else is giving mature responses as to what FF they like the best and not talking shit about others and their opinions.

After reading the list, I think Seymour would have been better than Yu Yevon, in representation of FFX. And Gabranth certainly deserved the 10 spot, at most. Gilgamesh has seniority so he should have been farther down the list. And Kuja, while dressed as a woman, should have been farther up. Having 2 villians from the same game kinda takes away from the other games, doncha think? Seymour Guado deserves recognition before Kuja...

Gilgamesh should've been higher on the list,Exdeath shouldn't have been on the list at all,and Jecht is way better than Yu yevon.

      videogamelists Oct 27, 09
the reason Jecht didn't make the list is because he wasn't really a villain. same with Golbez. if the only reason you're bad is because you're being controlled by someone else, you're not a villain.

Because they needed to even out the sides, and even in the game Emperor say he's not one of the villains, they just tricked/corrupted him during his rebirth into being one.

          Plus he's cooler.

Same reason Golbez is, I guess.
