It's very important to make a good investment, it's your money. And honestly, some of us probably didn't make good decisions in buying consoles. Heck, what did we know? some of these console developers really sold us on what could be a bang for your buck experience.

Unlike today, the console wars of past generations were tough for gamers. Choosing what system to support wasn't just a matter of loyalty, it was also a calculated risk. Back then, in a console-saturated market with companies fighting to stay afloat, every console purchase was a calculated risk. And in an era where exclusivity still really meant something, choosing a console amounted to no less than a major investment. Naturally, not all of these gambles paid off. Here's a look at some of the worst console investments your money could buy.

Well there are some reasons why it should be on this list, but I guess the author didn't do a good job to list them.

only reason its "not worth the money" is cause of getting shafted in the games department. even though there were a lot of exclusives that i loved to death. Power Stone!!! another one i loved was called Starlancer. and then of course the Sonic Adventures which was necessary back when i was a big Sonic fan.

damn that was a good 10 years ago...

He means the launch consoles, which had a nasty habit of crapping out on people.

a busted ps2 is still better than a working ps3/360.

I still have my PS2 that was very soon after launch (not the first batch, but probably the second or third). Never game me any trouble. Man I miss the good ol days before this gen!

bull. my original launch era model was a trooper and never crapped out. i liked them more than the Slims, just like i like the regular PS3s better than the Slims.

I got a Fat PS2, but I don't think it was a launch era one, because I got it only two years prior to the PS3 launch. But my ol' PS2 hasn't crapped in the bucket yet

I got a mid life Ps2 and the laser has crapped out. Still a tank though.

Would it be too obvious for me to make a comment about the top nine GG articles that weren't worth your attention?

Meh, thought so. Instead here's a suspicious man looking at a decidedly racist depiction of Jackie Chan.

    >.> -.-

Dreamcast is worth the money and PS2 launch era is nothing compared to the ps3 launch era. Way more expensive and way worse games.

Actually, this article was a great reminder that, relatively speaking, the PS3 wasn't as expensive as people think.

But honestly this gen is just really . . . odd and can't be considered really.

Replace the Dreamcast with the Wii and we have a nice list.

Wii really needs to be on the list more than Dreamcast or PS2. maybe Gamecube also. if were talking handhelds i would probably put up Game Boy Advance too. notice a trend?

I find the wii to be worth my money. I enjoy playing it every now and then with friends and everything

i used to like the Wii a bit, but unfortunately there are only about 5 good games on it. nearly all of them are made by Nintendo.

Well it's the same here, There's not a LOT of good games on it, but there are some good ones. And how much fun I get out of those few good ones, determines whether it's worth the money or not.

true, i guess you could say the same about Dreamcast, though almost all those games were good, just that all the devs abandoned Sega to go make PS2 games.

Yeah, which makes me kinda feel bad for the dreamcast . . .

So the blue-disc error on the PS2 was common? Damn, I knew it! And those Sh$%heads wanted so much money for the fix.

I remember hearing about that error and getting so worried about it. But I never once experienced any error of any sort.

Haha, the Virtual Boy is hands down the worst one on that list. I think the medical problems outweighed the actual fun you had while playing it.
