Tidus and Yuna Decide to Laugh Like Damned Fools

How can anything beat Cho Aniki? Well, here you have it. This is, without a doubt, the most awkward moment in gaming I have ever experienced. At least Cho Aniki intended to be bizarre, awkward, and predictably uncomfortable (and gay, oh so gay). This scene has bothered me in ways I didn’t think a game could, not to mention a Final Fantasy game. I am not sure I can ever play this game through again for fear of running into this scene. This is the Napoleon Dynamite of the videogame world. It probably concreted Tidus as my least favorite Final Fantasy ‘hero’, although his outfit doesn’t help. No pictures can do this awkwardness justice, so I’ve included the youtube link.



It might be just the voice actors that led this scene to its demise, but something is telling me the Japanese isn’t much better. Don’t agree with my number 1 choice? Try playing through this scene with a friend or family member around and try to explain to them you LIKE this game. Do it.

    Oh yes, I remember that moment from FFX, I was never more afraid someone else might bust into my room and see that scene. It is pretty funny later though, with all the other characters questioning Tidus's sanity.

    Okay, never played that game (FFX) so I haven't a clue to the context, but that wasn't uncomfortable, that was just downright oddly hilarious! Especially "You...probably should stop laughing." Again, I don't know the context, so I took that as if to say, "Man you laugh horribly! Just stop!"

      Well it makes a little more sense in context. Tidus was confused about a lot of stuff, kinda out of it, and Yuna told him how she practices laughing to keep herself happy, and tells him to try it. It's really all Yuna's idea, Tidus just goes over the top.

      At least that's how I recall it, I haven't played the game in years.

    The laughing scene is incredibly cringe worthy and awful, but I wouldn't have them remove it for anything in the world.

    It's so infamous now that it's actually part of what makes the game great.
