Fighting games were popular since arcade days. Even today, duel fights live a new life on majority of consoles. This article features the list of the most influencing fighting games ever.

Once a staple of the local arcades, restaurants, and convenience stores, the fighting game was the king of the quarter gobblers. Now, with the arcades dying a slow death, the genre has been in a decline for years. Looking for a new home, they turned to the home market. While they cannot match the feel of an arcade, it forces the major players to look for new ways to draw players.

    Pretty decent list. Bit disappointed that Dead or Alive wasn't included, though. Whilst the outskirts of the game shows sexuality and such, the game is a great fast-paced battle, with improved visuals, interactive stages, and a decent countering system. It's also got some nice combos. As for the badass factor? It's got ninjas for crying out loud!

    Glad they but the Smash Bros. games on that list. Easily the most entertaining fighting series I have ever played.

        I have played Soul Calibur, Tekken, Mortal Combat, and a few other fighting games, and I just like Super Smash Brothers best. The fighting style is entertaining, and I find it the most fun. Besides, bro, I thought it was my opinion not yours.

    Can't say I see what's so interesting about Mortal Kombat II to warrant it being on the list so high. For me it lacked the depth of many of the other fighters in the list.

    There are some solid entries in here though.

    Happy that Powerstone actually made it on the list, that games fantastic and i have the collection on my PSP which gets played ALOT.

    Smash Bros Brawl shouldn't have even got on the list, that game is god awful and Melee shouldn't have made it THAT high, sure it's good but it's not that good.

    Also they should have included WWF No Mercy for the N64 easily one of the best wrestling games ever along with here comes the pain.

    MK2 doesn't deserve the number 2 spot imo, but other than that it's an okay list. That said it's still a list. The nicest rapist in the world is still a rapist; an okay list is still a stain on gaming journalism.

    Marvel vs Capcom 2 should be in the top 5 at least. the fact that it isnt means this list sucks hardcore. only 7th place is an insult to the game.
