Head over to OXCGN and see their staff's choice for Game Of The Year Awards for 2009. While it is a primarily a Xbox 360 site, they do cover all platforms in these awards, as they are from the games the team has played and enjoyed throughout the year.

The ones they have picked that they had the most fun with, or experienced the best gameplay in their opinion from all the games THEY have had in 2009.

Slip over and check the listing out, and there's access to the Readers GOTY Poll as well, so you can have your say in that one as well.

2009 has basically come and gone and this year saw OXCGN.com go places which we never thought we would go in such a short time as a Community Xbox Website. We’ve ranked as low as 60k on the global Alexa ranking system, though we have leveled off at 120k, and pulled off a Google Page Rank of 3/10, both of which are huge tasks for any indie game site, especially one that is just over 2 years old.

2009 saw OXCGN attend E3 ‘09 in L.A., various THQ, Ubisoft, Rockstar, Microsoft and other events all around Sydney and getting to play and see a plethora of new games from the PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, PSP, Wii and of course the iPhone.

Over the past week fellow writers have discussed possibilities for OXCGN Game Of The Year and as well as announcing our final choices for GOTY and Runner Up, a few of the staff have given their personal Top 10 list of GOTY contenders. We have also offered readers a chance to vote on their own personal favourite here.

OXCGN’s GOTY was chosen based on where staff placed certain titles as their Number #1 choice and Runner Up as their 2nd and included all gaming platforms.

So without further ado let us take a look at OXCGN’s Overall Game Of The Year for 2009 as well as look at staff members’ Top 10 GOTY lists for 2009.

I may disagree with their reason for not choosing Uncharted 2 as GOTY, but I still think they were very fair in their choosings.

If they're a website that deals with all platforms, why're they called an "Xbox Community Network"?

Because we are gamers, not fanboys, What is so wrong with playing games from all platforms, simply because your platform of choice for the most part is say the 360/PS3/PC?

I doubt you'd see any mention of a PS3 site writing or giving a 360 game any awards, yet when a 360 site's staff choice also mentions a PS3 game (as well as Wii, PC, Nintendo DS, iPhone- although no one makes a fuss about them - funny about that eh!)

Again, the staff and contributors that write for the site have almost all the platforms. Their GOTY for THEM is based on THEIR choice of what game THEY had the most FUN with.

Not which one might be techinically better, has better graphics, etc etc.

It's based on their choice of game they find more "fun".

I would have had Forza 3 up there, and many did choose Uncharted 2, and some chose a PC game . .but it seems that it's a crime, or worse, a sin to even mention PS3 and 360 in the same sentence, let alone have them on the same site.

We review PS3, PC and other platforms games because we are gamers . . . first and foremost. Readers that come also have more than one platform, and many Sony fans come along because they know they will NOT see any bias or derogative reviews on other platforms, simply because they aren't 360.

We should be able to express our choices without having to worry what others might say .. which is what a site's GOTY award is about. It's NOT an industry award. Which is something completely different.

FUnny thing is, that we have a Readers Poll, and Uncharted 2 is leading that poll, yet we have ppl complaining in there thatthegame shouldn't be on a 360 site (yet it's leading the poll by a small matgin - funny that).

And we have our staff's GOTY and it's NOT a PS3 game, and we cop abuse for having it at number 1, and for having a PS3 game on the site.

When will so-called gamers (which they obviously are NOT) grow up . . probably never. It's a shame, as it is really ruining what was once a great industry.

That's all great, and it's really awesome that your website and staff have such good values. I just meant it's kind of contradictory for a website to be called an Xbox community when they do more than just Xbox (which I continue to commend you for; you have such great articles )

They do more than just 360 stuff, but their primary thing is Xbox. So it's not contradictory. It's like Neoseeker; it was originally made for game(r)s and technology forums (I believe; something along those lines anyway) and evolved to have many other types of forums and sub-forums. OXCGN is primarily for Xbox news and discussion, not exclusively.

Except that the name of "Neoseeker" doesn't imply gaming. Oz Xbox Community Network implies Xbox gaming. Not that it matters, really.

BTW, what are all the article pictures from?

And it has xbox gaming as it's main focus, it just doesn't limit itself. So I fail to see your point in how the name affects it.

Are you red? I'll assume not, since then you wouldn't be Human. Are there nine of you? Of course not.

I'm not even dignifying that with an answer. You're just making this into an issue...

No, I'm just debating your point.

Why is it that whenever someone contests something you see that as people starting an argument?

It's a discussion. I'm trying to understand your point because it makes no sense to me. That's all. Don't be so defensive about a non-issue.

while the name does make it seem like they only focus on Xbox, theres really nothing saying they cant include PS3 too. not really a big deal Red.

I've made a list of what I think, and I say that Assassin's Creed 2 came in at No.5 and Uncharted 2 comes in at No.3 (my list is actually on youtube, if you wanna look at it [/not a plug]).

I still maintain that Batman: Arkham Asylum deserves that crown.

Wow alot of the comments on the actual site are terrible, people going bat shit insane because Uncharted 2 didn't get #1 ; ; seriously people, opinions matter y'know?

Now i haven't had the privalidge of playing Uncharted 2, however i've seen gameplay and know all about it, so I know that in ways it does deserve GOTY. However is it just me or is it INSANELY overhyped? However it's not as overhyped as Modern Warfare 2 so i'll give it that.

Now my GOTY goes to Batman: Arkham Asylum, just for being the best superhero game ever and really making me feel like I was playing as THE Batman. Runner up for me would be Left 4 Dead 2.

Totally agree dude, both on U2's overhypedness and Batmans deservedness.

Agreed. Batman was brilliant and was easily my Game of the Year. Having said that I'm glad that neither MW2 or Uncharted 2 won because it's far too predictable. Ass Creed 2 looks awesome.

while i had fun with AC2, i really dont think it deserves GOTY. Dragon Age deserved it more than AC2.

even though im not a huge PS3 fan, i dont blame those who pulled for UC2 as being GOTY, going by me just seeing vids of it and everything ppl are saying, it deserves to win. Batman would be up there for me, as well as L4D2.

If I had to name a GOTY I'd say Demon's Souls, as I personally found the experience to be just brilliant. The only thing that would have made it perfect for me would have been Voice Chat, even if it was limited in some way.
