Too bad some of them (*cough*Paper Mario*cough*) have already been ruined...

We can only hope that the third Pikmin game doesn't suffer the same fate of severely altered gameplay.

Only one I've dabbled in is the Wii Sports group. I must admit, it's simple yet addictive. Had mine a year now, I know it's not that special, yet I still play it regularly.

Metroid Prime and Paper Mario are the two single shining lights of Nintendo (for me) over the last 5-6 years. The two originals of those franchises are my two favourite Nintendo games ever made (well, along with Perfect Dark and FE: Blazing Sword).

And their sequels were definately worthy of the originals (The Thousand Year Door a little more than Prime Echoes), some of the truest sequels I've seen.

But sadly, both series kinda butchered themselves with their third installment, and sadly it was irri-parable stuff (MP3 didn't have changeable weapons, SPM pretty much had the worst characters from any game ever).

Which is why I'm gonna leave both of those fantastic franchises to ride into the wilderness, I can't see them being any good anymore.

Also, how the hell is Wii Sports a franchise? Its like saying the cartoons before a movie are a show -_-

Didn't Metroid start in like the early 90's?

Yeah, but Prime didn't begin until recently.

        That's pretty much a cop-out.

I suppose it's similar to the Persona/Shin Megami Tensei situation. Persona has SMT in front of it, but most people consider it a separate franchise. It's more of an off-shoot that's managed to grow into considerable size. The same could be said of Metroid Prime.

Metroid Prime is 100% based on the Metroid series. All they did was turn it into 3 dimensions and go FPS style. It's like saying that Mario 64 is just an offshoot of Mario Bros and Mario World. =/

prime is way different than the normal franchise. it deserves it's own seperate classification from the original style of the game... the one that didn't suck.
