This is a list of the top 10 epic books that would make amazing video games, from website PlanetXbox360.com - it covers all different types of books, which would make a number of different genre video games.

Reading is fun, it has the ability to take you to a place of imagination and make-believe that few other forms of entertainment can accomplish. For a long time now Hollywood has been taking the latest New York Times bestseller and recreating it as a film, usually ruining the original author's work in the process. However it is very rare to see a video game developer/publisher take the time/money to re-imagine a novel into our industry's favorite past time. Maybe it's the subject matter but Visceral Games and publishing-powerhouse EA are attempting to do just that with their upcoming action game Dante's Inferno. Only time will tell if this is a successful and repeating practice but just for fun we decided to come up with the top 10 books that should be made into video games as soon as possible.

I'd love to see a game on A Song of Ice and Fire, great book. But even more exciting would be a game (or rather, a few games) on the Wheel of Time series. There's like sixteen books or so I believe, but the story and characters stay interesting throughout.

I totally agree Wheel of Time and A Song Ice and Fire series would make excellent games, though the stories still need to be finished, and it seems like the Ice and Fire books won't ever have an ending, is George R.R. Martin even writing anymore?
Also I think a Wheel of Time MMO was in the works to come out with a movie, but I haven't heard anything about either project in over a year.

He's still writing, just overloaded with work apparently. As for games based on books, both those suggestions would need to be done by Bioware. Not sure how they'd take to working on someone else's IP though.

I was kind of cynical going into this article, but it turned out to be a good article. Great suggestions for possible book-games. A Dark Tower game would be my pick.

I vote The Odyssey. Now that The Divine Comedy is primary covered, I'd like to hack my way through the adventures of Odysseus. It'd make up for that crappy TV movie they made of it.

I feel so lacking in due to the fact I've never read any of those. Although, it has inspired me to have a look for them to read now.

The Iliad and the Odyssey would both make awesome games, with all the monsters, heroes and gods they've practically got boss battles built in already.

I thought they were already making a game kinda like the Odyssey . . . .

Wait, I might be thinking of the Argonauts

I don't get it. Why are 3 books that already have games on a list that is called "Top 10 Books that Would Make Badass Video Games"

I think the point is that they could be made into good games, rather than cheap dross that lets down the IP.
