Although it wasn’t nearly as bad as the infant years of the gaming industry, the past decade (2000-2009) has produced some of the worst looking video game box arts ever.

Wow...ESRB should change the rating on that GBA game ASAP, the cover just screams Mature.

Meh, doesn't matter what the cover is to me, not like we look at them for long, it's all about what the game contains. Long as that's good, they can put whatever they want outside.

Other than being kinda of a bland artwork, what was wrong with Ico?

I agree with most of these, but I disagree with Dawn of Sorrow. The boxart looks perfectly fine in my opinion, but apparently, it doesn't look the same in other eyes.

I remember playing a demo of ICO, and what it lacks in boxart "style", it makes up for in gameplay.

the thing with the dawn of sorrow boxart is that it showed the boxart on the games boxart.. with the nintendo DS sidebar, and all. it looks asinine to show a nintendo ds box on a nintendo ds box.

other than the crappy animu-style characters, there's nothing bad about the original boxart. it just kinda sucks after how awesome the first one was

Damn, Ico's box art really does the game no justice whatsoever.

I think the page should just sum up that for the most part American box art designers are shit. I mean when I saw the ICO one I was like "WTF!?!" as the UK box art is so good. I don't understand how they get it so wrong, and it's not a new thing that the UK and Japan have always had better designed artwork either. I don't understand how the US designers keep getting it so very wrong.

Just a comparison of the US ICO and the UK ICO for those that haven't seen the UK version before.

By the way the UK art came in a special paper slip case to add to the rustic feel of the artstyle, so they even took that into consideration.

It's a real shame actually; how awesome a game Orange Box was, but how stupid the cover art was.
