Many of the games on this list look promising, but whether it's due to poor marketing or bad timing, they'll likely also rake in low sales upon release.
Go to the source for gamesradar.com's list of games that are doomed to fail in 2010...

With the possible exception of unexplainable, extraordinary inspiration, the factors which define a game’s quality are roughly quantifiable. The success of a game, however, involves slightly more chance, as the variables are less precise. When is the best time to launch a new PS3 exclusive FPS? Is there a market for fighting games on the Wii? The Western audience likes Final Fantasy – shouldn’t it like other Japanese RPGs? These answers can be approximated with figures and graphs and surveys and other things you’d find on boring people’s desks, but regardless, there’s not always a definable reason why one game succeeds and another flops.

We don’t claim to be psychics (well, actually, we probably have claimed that a few times), but these are the games of 2010 that, based on precedents set by the last few years and what we know about the market, we don’t expect to flood any coffers. We hope we’re proven wrong.

Hm, such bad timing on release dates for a few of these games. Didn't NSMBW come out during the release of Assassin's Creed II, Left 4 Dead 2, etc? It did well...then again, of course it did well, it's Mario. Hopefully Tatsunoko vs Capcom gets up there, don't see too many other major fighting games being released this year.

Poor Resonance of Fate, though, same day as FFXIII? That's insane. xD I'm pretty sure Dante's Inferno will do well.

Resonance of Fate's release date is just...retardedly stupid. :/

I don't think it matters. FFXIII is going to have JRPG fans lining up at the doors, so the release date is important for that game because it's a well-established, highly-selling franchise. For a game like Resonance of Fate, if Resonance of Fate is going to be successful it's going to be because it sells a lot of units over time. The release date of new IP doesn't matter much because it's not going to sell much on the first day anyways, being new IP and all.

Yeah, but it'll probably sell alot less if it's released on the same day as an even bigger RPG title. For the next few months, if people go into a game store looking for an RPG, they probably won't pick out RoF if FFXIII is sitting right next to it.

Well I won't be getting Bioshock 2 till a month or two after Dante's Inferno.

If I could play Crysis 2 I would still pick up Quantum theory as I like 3rdPS's better than FPS's and am sick and tired of FPS's.Plus I love the idea of your cover having a mind of it's own and pissing off and leaving you open to attack.

If I had a 360 I would pick Red Dead Redemption over Crackdown 2 because it's a sanbox western which practically automatically makes it more interesting than Crackdown 2 to me.

Crackdown 2 looks retarded. It is absolutely nothing like the first, I don't know why or how Games Radar thought Crackdown 2 would topple Red Dead Redemption, the game could be shit but 6 million people will still buy it because it will have Rockstar Games on the box.

He was talking about how people will buy Red Dead Redemption because of Rockstar..

Um Red Dead Redemption is made by Rockstar, that's why Daweii said it would sell millions.
Admittedly Daweii is completely wrong about the quality of Crackdown 2,() but RDD may indeed outsell it. Totally unfair IMO that horses and duster coats will outdo being able to toss cars around and jump the length of a city block.

Because having superpowers like that hasn't been done before

Red Dead Redemption looks extremely good from all the previews i've been seeing.

Oh I'm sorry, you made me look foolish because everyone knows that games are all totally original. How wrong of me to give a clearly stated preference for one game over another without even slagging the other game off.

tbh i don't get why FF13 overshadows YAKUZA 3(!), Yakuza was a damn great game, and i've been waiting quite a while for Yakuza 3.

Plus i don't care for the Final Fantasy franchise anyway
Turn based combat isn't my thing, which is why i actually liked FF12.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom won't fail because most of the Tatsunoko characters are unknown to most Americans. That's silly.

TvC will fail because it is on the Wii. Like most third party games on the Wii that end up being extremely underrated. It's quite sad. I own the Japan-release of TvC and I love the heck out of it, sucks that 90% of the Wii's gamers waste their money on crap Nintendo constantly dishes out.

    true story

you can't even deny that if it were on the 360/PS3 it would do so much better. Oh well, if and when it fails, Capcom will FINALLY realize they need to stop putting so much effort into Nintendo's hands.

Agreed with most of the list, except Red Dead Redemption. Its GTA in the OL' WILD WEST!!! Of course its gonna do well.

Hm, will have to try the demo for Resonance of Fate, anyone know if it's out on the 360 marketplace yet?

If it's any good, i'll probably buy that alongside FFXIII anyway.

Also, Quantum Theory won't fail because of Crysis 2, it'll fail because it's going to be terrible =/

And with Rockstars track record since GTA IV, I don't have any high expectations for Red Dead Redemption, seeing as GTA IV was absolutely awful. I'll stick to Crackdown 2 and wait till RDR is down in price.

Pretty sure the RoF demo isn't avaliable outside of Japan yet at present. In fact I'm not even sure we've got a rough idea of when the demo is supposed to be avaliable.

Wait, is it available on the Japanese PSN store? I still have an active Japanese account.

I just looked and didn't find it. I did see an End of Eternity demo, but I don't know if that's on the US store as well.

I could of sworn it came out in December in Japan, although that may not have alsso come out on PSN, although I don't see why it wouldn't. Maybe I've just lost it XD

Wait, really? To be honest I had a feeling it was but for some reason I didn't think they would change the name THAT much.

Resonance of Fate may not have chosen the best release date but not only is it not ps3 exclusive like they said it was it also looks pretty original and not like a generic jrpg atall. I'll honestly probably just buy it instead of FF13 and just borrow someone elses copy of that.

Horrible to see Okamiden there. I was thinking that this would be the game to ignite a love. 3:

Given that Okami sold badly on the PS2, sold better on the Wii but still pretty badly, it's not surprising to see a lack of faith in Okamiden. Hopefully it'll be more appeal to the general DS audience.

I found the article interesting because of the amusing captions. "Augh, light, our one weakness! Our devilish eyes are slow to adjust!" and "No, no, no, more scars! That’s how you know he’s tough!" are absolutely priceless because it's the truth and you all know it. As for the games listed, they won't affect me so not too bothered.
