This is a breakdown of the top 10 overrated video game franchises of all time, chosen by game website PlanetXbox360.com - no console is safe and all beloved series are targeted.

"Ever since the dawn of man people have figured out that if you make something successful, and then make some similar to that first thing that it will also make millions of dollars. This is the basic premise behind all movie and video game franchises, and it has been happening since the beginning of both forms of entertainment. Sometimes it works great (Star Wars IV-VI) and sometimes it's a complete disaster (Star Wars I-III); because of this fact we decided to go back and pick what we believed to be the top 10 overrated game franchises of all time. Now this doesn't mean all the games in the chosen franchise were junk (maybe just half of the 8 games reminded us of feces), but for one reason (level design) or another (customer support) the franchise made our dreaded list. No fan-boy platform is safe and literally every virtual rock will be overturned in the search for the top ten video game overrated franchises of all time."

    This site really needs to sit down with their staff and give them a good kick up the ass and tell them to pack in the list shit.

    From the makes of "TOP 10 GAMING SNACKS!" comes another totally drolling list.

    Least they put in Halo & Call of Duty.

    Whoever made this list must have been bored.
    However I will agree Halo and GTA are insanely overrated. Same with Modern Warfare (I mean c'mon, gimmee a break).

    Well the FF one is stupid.Until FFX-2 FF was ALL about not having continuity. That's why it's called Final Fantasy. It's final other than some with sequels and spinoffs because usually the world is in peril because of some incredibly destructive force that threatens to put the world into eternal chaos.They beat the force, end the danger which in turn creates the end of the FINAL FANTASY.

    The next FF comes along and it's a completely new universe.


    IMO GOW isn't overrated as it's the game that turned me into a hack and slash fan. Before that I thought h&s games were absolute boring shit.Now if they were to say the DREADFUL Dynasty Warriors then I would agree.I can't believe people STILL play those games.I stopped after playing the first one.

    As for DBZ, you can not bother with what I say if you want because I AM a DBZ fanboy (not the brainless moron type), but the stories are great.Maybe not so much in the games as they can confuse you if you don't already know the whole story.If you do know the whole story then the DBZ gamesr are actually pretty damn good.

      I didn't understand FF either since the games change almost every time. The leveling up system, the battle system, the plot, the summonings. How can something that does something new with every game be overrated?

    Are they kidding me, these are some of the best franchises of the last decade. DBZ is not really even overrated because no one ever even claimed it was very good in the first place.

    "I’m not including the Modern Warfare titles in this, just the endless repetition of World War II based games." - lmao. I can't even begin to describe how pathetic that list is. The only franchises that deserve to be on there, and this is purely my opinion, are Final Fantasy and God of War. However, I know they're both HUGE games with a great following of fans, it's just that I personally am not a fan. Overall, terrible article.

    I dunno about overrated but one of the most underrated has to be BONETOWN. Nothing beats pounding a white fatty with her legs thrown over the shoulders and gripping those fun bags for support.

    I think it was more about the overrating of scores, not how well the game sold or who wants more.....there are way too many conspiracy theorists around here....
