As weird as that topic might sound, one has to wonder what kind of parent would let their kid venture out into the wilderness filled with grizzly monsters to save the world from an apocalyptic invader. And yet we see such fine examples of parenting on a daily basis in video games.
Falling more under the, “Guardian,” category and acting more like an owner, Dr. Light is notorious for endangering his charge, Mega Man, adventure after adventure. First and foremost, I understand the relationship between the two is different, Mega Man being designed to fight. But couldn’t Dr. Light at least have given him the ability to shoot up above his head? Why does every adventure start with all the powers you gained in the previous game somehow vanished, as though Dr. Light fears Mega Man will break the 3 rules of robotics? He turns your reliable pet dog into a multitude of other helpful items... but that’s like a real parent taking your dog to the taxidermist after it dies. Cruel, truly cruel.
