Final Fantasy games are renowned for their epic length, characters, and plot-lines. To celebrate the release of FFXIII, let's take look back at the top 5 endings/conclusions in the Final Fantasy series.

In order for an ending to reign superior over the others in this list, it must contain high production value within its context (i.e. FFVIII's ending can't be better than FFIV's ending on grounds of graphics), a satisfying conclusion to the story, and a strong musical score (Uematsu vs Uematsu vs Uematsu, etc.!)

I suppose FFVII isn't on there because it's so vague, at least it was before the compialation.

Was it vague though? Imo it was a pretty clean-cut ending, but perhaps a little anti-climactic. Meteor was destroying Midgar, the Lifestream stopped it, they all lived happily ever after.

Lack of closure, like.. any.. at all, ruined it for me.

It's nice to see FFVIII get the top spot. I've always thought it was the best (and most memorable) FF ending. Really wow-ed me at the time. Squee really went all-out with the graphics in that game.

Yeah, that's about one of the only things they actually focused on with the game. xD The half-assed backstory for the characters and such...I could do without. But I did enjoy the ending, heck just about all the cutscenes.

    I haven't even finished 5 FF's.I've only actually beaten VIII, X and X-2.

X's ending is easily my favourite.

FFX was the definite tear-jerker for me. FFXII had a forgetfull ending. FFVII was kinda abrupt. FFIX was one of those touchy endings. FFVIII had the most memorable and most conclusive.

I think FFX was my favorite ending. It has stuck with me ever since I finished it so long ago.
