Resident Evil 5 might have been a commercial success, but it also left many old fans of the series feeling disappointed with the action-oriented turn the game had taken. Capcom showed those fans that they haven't forgotten their survival horror roots with the Lost in Memories DLC, but many still didn't consider it to be enough.

So what can Capcom do with Resident Evil 6? GamesRadar takes a look. Go to the source for the full list.

More scares, more puzzles... oh, and a helping of Barry Burton wouldn't go amiss, either.

    Pretty poor list tbh. The gore complaint is awfully superficial, the scare complaint is just people's inability to accept the franchise has changed and just move on, the running and gunning complaint would require a significant change of mechanics that would take the series even further away from the same 'roots' that most people want it to go back to, and finally the last statement is a rather obvious complaint.

    The only thing I agree with is the fact a new cast could do wonders for the series at this point, although it would just once again be met with fans crying about it.

      The scare complaint is pretty valid. In a similar manner as to how you don't take a cutesy platformer and throw in guns and "dark attitude" without seriously messing things up. Just ask Sega. Very few devs can get away with it, and Capcom are not one of them. Whether you like it or not, RE has always been known for being survival horror. Just like Sonic games are platformers and nobody is expecting the core games to suddenly go off on a completely unrelated genre.

      Fans don't want a carbon copy of the old games. They want the series to continue the original direction, and ffs if Capcom are going to turn the whole thing into a 3rd person shooter they could at least do it properly.

    What RE fans need to do with RE6; move on.

    RE1-RE3 = (Arguably) Horror.
    RE4 = Action '' horror.
    RE5 = Action.

    If you don't get the message already than you're just *bleep*ing yourself over. Move on to a different horror series instead of clinging to RE and bitching about how much it has changed.

      What other horror series? Dead Space "sounds" like its heading into a RE4/5 dirction, Silent Hill has gotten lame, and where's the second sequel to The Suffering?

      RE6 needs to go back to its roots. If anything, RE5 alianated all of the series' fans, so good chance a lot of them will be looking at RE6 with extremely suspicious eyes. If they will buy the product, that is yet to be seen. They don't want to move to another series because their's has started to suck. They shouldn't have to.

        Don't forget Fatal Frame IV. One of the few great survival-horror games of this generation, and Nintendo refused to publish it in the West.

        Dead Space wasn't horror to begin with and Silent Hill got lame around 3.

        RE5 should have destroyed its fanbase. The game was a travesty. Yet still people who claim to want horror hang around like bad odors and complain because they're not getting what they want from a company which no longer cares about them, even when they said from the start RE5 was gonna be more action yet people still bitched. RE fans make no sense whatsoever. It's exactly the same thing as what happened with Nintendo's 'hardcore' audience when the Wii came out; the company screwed the fans over hard and the message was clear "We don't need you anymore, so we'll just aim at the mass idiots, kthx." Yet they still clung to them and look where that got them?

        Maybe there are few other places to turn but asking a dog with no legs to play fetch is only gonna serve to piss the asker off an endless amount.

      I'm with reaver.

      I don't like Dead Space.While I do enjoy Silent Hill, I find the games much too depressing and have never purchased any only rented 2, 3 and 4.

      Anyway I think Lost in Nightmares showed that classic RE and current RE can be mixed together for an awesome game.I thought the mansion section which had no enemeies was a shit load better than the entire original RE5.
      Even RE4 while not scary either was more of a horror game than RE5.At least RE4 was dark and basically gothic.I finished RE4 about 9 or 10 times.RE5 I finished once.

      Cold Fear was also a game that showed that classic RE and current RE can be mixed together and was agruably more RE than RE5 was.

        I'm not saying it isn't possible. I'm saying they're not going to do it.

    I've always said this, the reason we still play this is because they're good games. No one is denying them that, it's just their shit Resident Evil games. I'm still going to play them, they're fun, I just wish they weren't using the Resident Evil IP to do this.
