Old games hold a special, warm and fuzzy place in the hearts of most gamers old enough to remember them. While most of them haven't aged particularly well, there are a number of classics, however, that transcend time. They're still better investments of both time and money than most of today's video games

Here are ten such titles that are at least a decade old (or close to it) and still represent the best in their respective genres.

"Here are ten such titles that are at least a decade old (or close to it) and still represent the best in their respective genres. This list is by no means comprehensive; if there are any glaring omissions, please let us know!

There's no nostalgia involved. Each of these games have been replayed recently, and have been found to be every bit as enjoyable as they were when they were first released. While these games probably don't have the high-tech graphics or online multiplayer that their modern counterparts have, they're still guaranteed to deliver a superior experience."

Agreed with Mario Kart 64 for sure. None of the current Mario Kart games come close to beating it imo. That is just one of the great racing games of all time.

I agree Gotenks, the newer ones are good but lack that bit of charm 64 had.

Unfortunately, I can't view the article. It claims the article "isn't ready yet" or something. Whatever.

But I'm willing to bet this article makes a good point. I love the classics.

The article was bad just bad.

When he said "old school" I was expecting to see games from the 1980's arcades or games from the early Mega Drive, Master System, NES and Super Famicom days. Not games form the late Nineties.

Someone should tell him what "Old School" means.

To much Nintendo and nothing from any of the SEGA and other companies classics?

Where the heck was the Classic Arcade games? Where the heck were Super Mario Bros 1 and 2 and all the Sonic games. Where the heck was Golden Axe and Streets Of Rage?

The article writer did look 16 years old with bad acne so those would have been old school to him but for me old school means the 1980's and early 1990's.
