6. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

3. Mass Effect

1. Guitar Hero II

It fills your living room with plastic tat, fills the games market to saturation point and features gameplay in which the controller feels more like an obstacle to immersion than a conduit between you and the game on the screen. Of course all these charges could be levelled at any game in the Guitar Hero or Rock Band series, but for sheer disappointment Guitar Hero II steps forward on behalf of its fellows to take the award.

Contrast the endless series of heavy metal peaks on the soundtrack of GH with the limited number of crackers on its sequel, which is padded out with far more novelty numbers and lesser lights and you have the template for the future iterations of the plastic tat franchises-weaker and weaker content piled higher and higher.

      Honestly, I'm a HUGE MGS fan, but I kind of don't hate seeing it on this list.

      MGS4, was a good game, but, in my opinion, it was completely geared towards people who are already fans.

      I'm a total MGS fanboy, it's my absolute favorite series of all time, but I can see why MGS4 was a bit of a let down for some.

      This is coming from someone who played through it a good 15-20 times and thoroughly enjoyed it every single time.

    This list is fckin dumb, Twilight Princess and Guitar Hero II are NOT from this generation and MGS4 and Brawl are absolutely not overrated.

      Twilight Princess was on the Wii if I'm not mistaken.

        That one is odd, it was made for Gamecube, and ported to the Wii with some improvements. I'm thinking the GC one actually hit first though, and the Wii version was delayed a bit.

        Either way, you could say it was last gen.

          Guitar Hero 2 came out for the 360, though...

          lol, I'm not going to yell. Not even mildly annoyed. You make a point with Zelda. I'm pretty sure GH2 was just a straight port to 360 though. Where they didn't really even change anything. You may as well count Earthworm Jim on the marketplace, which was in fact god awful.

    I could agree with MGS4. I love the game, and this is coming from someone who was never really into the series before it. But the hype has outdistanced it somewhat.

    I believe that Guitar Hero is overrated because it is pratically a rehash of the game with just updated graphics and a few new songs which can easily be made DLC.

      I think that, in the eyes of most people, an Zelda game that isn't as good or as revolutionary as Ocarina of Time is over rated.

      In other words, it's likely that future Zelda games will be "over rated" for quite some time.

      Repeating the awesomeness of OoT will be difficult.

    Great list.

    That guy is a genius. I agree with every game he has on that list especially Link and Smash Brawl.

    2 of the most overrated games in history!

    Half of the noobs that bought ME didn't know it existed until the media made a huge deal about lesbian alien sex. Then EVERYBODY bought it.
