Last week, Time Magazine published their annual top 10 video games list. This year's list is quite baffling as it includes several odd choices, arguable rankings, and leaves out many blockbuster titles. Their pick for Game of the Year is also surprising.

An odd list to say the least... It's nice to see Alan Wake getting some recognition though. I agree with the author that it was a breath of fresh air compared to other shooters. When I originally rented it, I was skeptical about the whole "defeat zombies with light" thing, but I came to find that it was brilliantly done, and of course the storyline was great as well. Very original as far as video games go.

TBH Alan Wake seems like a perfect fit for time magazine. Limbo as well.

Angry Birds at 2nd in any year would be laughable, but in a year with RDR and Mass Effect 2?

It has made quite an impact on the casual audience. I've been hearing about it quite a bit on the TV and radio. It's not exactly a masterpiece like RDR or ME2, but since it has left just a big of a mark as either of those two, if not bigger, it deserves to be there. As you said about Alan Wake and Limbo, it's a good fit for Time, since they're far from being a gaming magazine.

On another note, I think it's funny Angry Birds has gotten so much attention when a game just like it named "Crush the Castle" came out over a year before it. It seems the key to Angry Birds's success is its cutesy appearance.
