Joystick Division ranks the top 15 games of the year for consoles, PC and mobile devices. Downloadable games make a good showing, as does one indie game that had everyone talking this year.

Our staff has debated back and forth about the greatest games of the year. We've each offered up our own favorites for consideration -- games that stuck with us, games that blew us away, games that defined the year as a whole. But we could only choose fifteen. We have the final selection for you here.

That right there, is a pretty good list I'd say. A couple of odd choices (Deadly Premonition, Pac Man?) and a couple of games left out (most notably Halo Reach), but all in all I agree for the most part.

Deadly Premonition was a very good game.. It wasn't technically good, it wasn't visually good, the story was absolutely absurd but the game never took itself too seriously. What it got right though was the way the game played and it grew to be the un-likeliest of contenders to Silent Hill and Resident Evil without even trying to be.

adding variety for the sake of variety is starting to get annoying when it comes to lists these days...

It helps to avoid fanboyism, but does have the side effect of a diluted Top list. Putting in Minecraft is just plain cheeky though, haha.

I've never liked a Call of Duty title. I would've snuck in Monster Hunter Tri myself.

Move up Mass Effect 2 and Super Mario Galaxy 2 to the first and second spots, and then you got yourself a flawless list.
