Though it sometimes seems like the console wars will never end, in reality, all three companies have found a hefty segment in today’s industry. There’s no doubt that the PS3 struggled upon its release, and the PSP seems to have been lagging behind the DS for years, but that doesn’t mean Sony hasn’t built up an impressive collection of exclusive games between the two consoles. From the award-winning to the slightly overrated, here’s the top 10 Sony franchises of the current generation:

    Kinda surprised Resistance isn't on there. The first game was pretty much the best the PS3 had for the first 9 months, and the second was pretty good as well. Not sure if Heavy Rain should be on there though. I think at least one sequel has to be announced before you can call it a franchise.

    Still, good list. Very interesting.

    Demon's Souls is a fantastic gem and is really underrated, alot of people I know with PS3's have hardly heard of it.

    Can't wait for the sequel and really can't wait for Uncharted 3.

    And...why isn't MGS on there? I know it's had games on other consoles, but the core games (1-4, as well as the prequels) have remained solely on Sonys console. And if nothing else, MGS4 was the deciding point for some people to pick up a PS3.

    Sony actually has 10 exclusive franchises!!??

    I don't care for most of them, except Uncharted and Heavy Rain. Those games are amazing.

    MGS definitely should have been on there, holy frick. totally got robbed. take off Heavy Rain, thats not a franchise, just a spiritual successor to Indigo Prophecy and its only decent besides. MGS not making it on the list is such a joke. MGS4 is pretty much my primary reason for wanting a PS3, even more than GOW3 and the Uncharted games.

      It's not a Sony franchise, though. So it shouldn't have.
