Not a bad list at all. About the only thing I disagree with is Final Fantasy. There are too many people who think going back to the ways of the "good old days" will save them. Final Fantasy has never been a repetitive franchise, it is famous for new characters, new stories, new universe, and new gameplay. I want Final Fantasy creators to give me something new each and every game.

While FFXIII was linear, you shouldnt blame that on "innovation" but simply something they overlooked. Games today take much longer to make even when they are more linear. However, going back to the old games will only upset me, because that means they are losing creative thought that makes Final Fantasy so great.

Having said all that, I agreed with all other games on that list, as much as I love Uncharted and Assassin's Creed, you are correct. I have always wished they would change Pokemon up a little bit, havent bought a game in like 10 years. and of course, CoD is #1 on everyone's list, even those that love the franchise...

I didn't necessarily mean to say that future FF games should all be 16 bit, have no voice acting, and be in a medieval fantasy setting; My point was more that those games were about having a lot of freedom by JRPG standards, simple yet deep combat, and interesting storylines with memorable characters. I think Square Enix should gain take inspiration from what made the classics great, while still making a modern game with modern sensibilities.

I agree the next AC needs to be a proper sequel but no way in hell a reboot.

I said in the opening paragraph that by reboot I meant just some changes to gameplay and design, not necessarily one like the upcoming Devil May Cry.

Good list, but there are two series that shouldn't be there: The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy.

There's no doubt in anyone's mind that Final Fantasy is a series that undergoes complete evolution with every single release. Some players aren't pleased by that fact and some are. That is just going to be natural from here on out and the sooner that the people who want to go back to the good old days of a non-futuristic setting realize this, the better off they'll be.

For The Legend of Zelda, maybe they can do something different in a modern or science fiction. However, that is going to be tough to pull off considering the major differences in a game like this setting and the previous one. People are going to be like "What the hell am I playing?"
