The Top 20 Games That Were Overshadowed This Year

Storm | December 30, 2007 | Top List | PC Playstation 2
As we look back over this year, we see many great anticipated and famous titles, such as Halo 3, Assassin's Creed, BioShock, etc.. But with so many good titles being released (especially in the November-December range), we tend to overlook decent games such as Crush, Overlord, and Fire Pro Wrestling Returns.

Poisonous Pixels runs through 20 titles that are worth checking out, titles that have been blown away by the more famous games due to close release dates or popularity.
Many of the games that are on those lists are definitely must play games (Super Mario Galaxy, Call of Duty 4, The Orange Box), but whatever happened to the other games that were fantastic throughout the year like World in Conflict, Persona 3, or Lunar Knights to name a few.

With just an avalanche of triple A titles hitting us at the end of the year, many excellent games were overshadowed by the sheer amount of press coverage and excellent PR campaigns that were given to those games that were at the top of those 2007 lists.

In no particular order:
1) Crush (PSP)
2) Eternal Sonata (Xbox360)
3) Super Stardust HD (PS3)
4) Sam & Max: Season 1 (PC)
5) Red Star (PS2)...

Desktop Tower Defense kept me busy for months. It's extremely addicting.

I haven't played any of the other games on the list, but I wanted to get my hands on Eternal Sonata and Zck and Wiki.

The only game I have in that entire list is Fire Pro Wrestling Returns, and I must say, the customization and movesets is more than worth the $20 price tag.

DTD is a free flash game? That caught my attention. xD

I DO want to play; Odin Sphere, Jean d'Arc, and Persona 3 (along with the other Shin Megami Tensei games)....No money, totally broke (cept for a couple gift cards and a $20 bill -_-)

Not to mention FINISH Eternal Sonata (Probably will, now I have a HDTV to properly enjoy it on)...Overlord as well >_>

Yup definitely haven't heard of most of those games, probably cause they were overshadowed. Might look into them.

I honestly haven't played any of those games.

Surprised to see Virtua Tennis 3 on there.

I'm pretty surprised that Jean D'Arc ended up being an "overshadowed" game this year. Many sites praised the game and loved it, yet gamers just didn't seem to catch onto it ... which is a shame.

Jeanne D'Arc is one awesome game. Pity it was overshadowed by hyped up but not so good games.
