Top 5 games to come out late in a systems life.

theundertakergonzo | May 03, 2008 | Top List | Misc
It's the top 5 games which have came out late in the consoles life. They came in as at 5 was God of War 2, fourth was given to Vagrant Story, third was taken by Panzer Dragoon Saga, second was Yoshi's island and the first spot was taken by Pokemon Red/Blue versions.
Sometimes so-called Early adopters -- gamers who get in line to join the next generation a minute after midnight -- miss their old hardware's swan song. And yet it's often those eleventh-hour games like Killer Instinct, Bully, Pokémon, and Okami that prove a gaming platform's untapped potential. Here are our top five games that arrived late to the party.
5. God of War II
System: PlayStation 2 | Release Date: 2007 | Publisher: Sony

We ended our God of War I review by saying, "With all the talk about next-generation systems coming soon, God of War serves as a good smack-to-the-face reminder of why this generation doesn't want to be left behind." So a year later, when Sony announced the sequel as a PS2 game, fans were confused -- it seemed like too important a franchise to be missing from Sony's PS3 plans. Then, another year later, God of War II shipped and everyone stopped caring. It managed to feel like a substantial step forward despite staying on PS2, with more energetic combat, an overflowing number of memorable story moments, and arguably the best visuals on PS2. (It also didn't hurt that Sony released screenshots in such a crazy high resolution that they could sit comfortably next to 360 and PS3 images.) In most every way, God of War II made Sony's PS3 stylish action game holdover Heavenly Sword look bad for not being able to match what a PS2 game could do.

I think Force Unleashed will probably be the last good PS2 released. I'm amazed they still make games for PS2 all the way to 2008.

But Force Unleashed I feel will be most successful on the Wii. I'm hoping it is anyway as that's what I'll be getting it on.

And of course the best games come out last. The console has been around for a while and developers know how to get the best out of it.

I missed out on both gow's while I was saving up for PS3 lol, I've only heard of good things from 'em though, and I'm definitely getting chains of olympus for psp.

Chains of Olympus is a great game, but some people (me included) are disappointed by its extremely short length. In my opinion, a good RPG should have a decent length. If you're an RPG game fan, I'd tell you to consider Crisis Core instead.

But God of War ISN'T a damn RPG Star. Its an action game. You need to know the difference. Also let me tell everyone if you honestly thought God of War CoO was going to have loads of Hours built into it when the first two games was 9 hours respectively than your crazy. 1.5GB UMD had made God of War CoO into an icon for PSP. It lived up to the hype and definitely matches the console games by a good amount. People you can't compare those with space its impossible. The game alone with the replayability and Challenge of the gods and such makes up for its gameplay length. Also no other PSP matches its graphics and the using all of the PSP sheer power. As good as Crisis Core is, it didn't use the PSP 333MHz of power that Chains of Olympus did.

This type of stuff pisses me off.

Im not surprised how Pokemon came into 1st. It definitely was a great game series no doubt. But i feel God of War 2 should be number 2, it blew every PS2 game out of the water in the short amount of time it was made, which everything was upgraded into awesomeness.

Me and my Bro were still playing pokemon gold and silver on the black and white gamboy, let alone blue and red.

No Super Mario RPG? List = fail.

SMRPG came out for the SNES in May of 1996, which was a few months before the N64 came out. Yet its still regarded as one of the greatest games ever created.

It would of been the perfect game to list.

That i actually agree with, i thought that was a great game. Apparently this list does fail in many aspects.
