There's something about PSone games ... they have a certain charm. Replaying them brings back doses of nostalgia and is sure feels nice to look back on the memories of when those games were first released. Games Equal Life agrees, and has written a blog on the nostalgia they felt while watching a Metal Gear Solid 1 video.

The duel against Ocelot sure was fun, but who could forget the memorable battle where we had to switch controller ports to prevent Psycho Mantic from "reading our minds" and predicting Snake's every move. Amazing stuff!

Nostalgia is a funny thing. It can make a person feel inexplicably happy and sad at the same time. It can make a person yearn for the past while feeling happy that they had witnessed something amazing long ago. Why am I rambling crazy talk about nostalgia, you might ask? It is something that came to me while browsing Youtube recently. I was searching for a certain Metal Gear Solid 4 video and accidentally clicked on an old MGS1 video instead.

Ahhh it brought back good memories. The classic music, the gritty atmosphere, the green/blue tones, the blocky graphics. The series has changed so much since its foray into the 3D world. Who would have thought that this seemingly small scene versing Snake and Ocelot would only be the beginning of a much bigger plotline ten years down the track?

lol, I remember the demo I got was in Spanish. I still played through it, though, and I still got the game even though I couldn't understand a word of the demo.

Oh yeah, Psycho Mantis - that battle was crazy, haha. I liked almost all of the boss battles, from Vulcan Raven to Ocelot. Nice thorough storylines overall. Very nice.
